Correct. Automatic shift valve body with a shift kit. I have not tried manually shifting it from 1-2. The noise, so far, only appears when in Drive and it shifts automatically from 1 to 2.

Is that painted or vapor blasted?

I’ve only ever worked on maybe 5 sets of those. Just general rebuild stuff. I actually did a set over the winter. Not a big fan, but to each their own. I see it as a pretty big chunk of iron for only 170cfm.

I would tighten the front shocks extension. Slow it down so it tops out softer/later. If you don’t have adjustable shocks in front, you can lower the ride height. Which makes it travel farther, taking longer. If you can’t, is the car throwing the rear axle down HARD? You might slow that down by...

If you are going to remove the inner shields, undue the 2 bottom fender bolts too. The push nuts that hold your hinges in place like to work their way out, making things sloppy. I use small worm gear clamps to keep things in place, lube all of the hinge pivot points. Your trunk has slides...

Ahh so it's gasoline *resistant* There's a reason the car hasn't been driven more than to repark it since this debacle started. With it's new mini starter and a rebuilt carb, it starts great though!
