Well I don't know how popular this will be but I used a quadrajet. It sits on a cast intake. Jets are easily dialed in. Has electric choke. Had to use lil imagination for kickdown but the 67 cuda w/273 runs great and when the 4bbl opens up it's got that mean air rush noise.
I’ve never done it but probably should try it sometime is take a bare set of Speedmaster heads and open the pinch up to 1.0-1.010 and give the intake side a nice 70-60-45-30-15 valve job for a 2.055 valve.
Yes that was the hopes 500hp the compression ratio is going to be around 11.3:1 with a lunati solid roller .237@50 intake and [email protected] exhaust .566 lift intake with1.5 on intake and .578 on exhaust
Would be an easy fix.
When the tank is near empty, and with the filler cap/door open a while, you just have to "tap" a small fitting into the top of the filler tube to accommodate a short rubber hose connector and a small fuel-type line that you run to where you want the gas to vent to.
I can't see the sense of doing it the hard way. The bushing reduces the size of the crank pilot hole, and allows the use of a stock converter. There is no down side. Why spend a bunch of money on a special converter, when a low dollar bushing will accomplish the same thing. Granted if you want a...
Very small turnout will make for a short day and some easy points for those that are there…. lol
Oh well, not worth the 2.5hr drive each way for me to take a chance
It's only a problem if your goal was 500 hp and or more. Your gonna need a little more flow and or cam/cr.
You probably can pick up some cfm with good valve job and a bit of bowl work and maybe some chamber de shrouding some of the head experts can help you there.
Yup! Thx.
Before I saw your post, I cleaned up the vent tube, replaced the rubber hose connector to the fill tube, and rerouted it as in your figure 2.
On my 67, there is a large rectangular gasket at where the filler tube goes through the trunk floor.
Towards the center line in that gasket...
You should know better than anyone here, being you have both parts on hand and can measure yourself. I had both cars myself a few years ago and I think the 70' may be a little shorter on the frame rails. I would say let the frame rails tell you where to cut, but keep in mind that you will need...
You must also cut the retainer collar and break apart the rollers by hand before you press the old one off. I don't see how you can remove/install w/o a press.
Ya i was wondering how much of a difference that cfm would make but i thought it was close enough should have done more research . at least the heads are still bare could always spend more money and have them worked over i guess
Does the Sure-Grip Unit Replace an Open-Carrier in the same Axle Housing/ use the same Axles?
What Gears are on that?
I have an Open 2.93 in my '65 barracuda that I would Love to replace...
P.M. me with a Price for that?
I still have a couple t-handles, I'm told one is quite rare (not sure I can believe that) and had an opportunity to use one on a couple,of stick cars I had a few years ago. I stuck with the knob on those too.
Thanks Richard,
I have an automatic. Chatting with a guy with a 3854S on eBay but he doesn't seem interested in coming off his crazy high price. I'm in no hurry, it will be at least August before I can even start the engine rebuild. No plans to build any racer for sure. Even keeping the...
That's a 25-35 cfm difference in the meat of the curve .300-.500" probably at least a 50 hp difference on a decent engine. The SM aren't to bad for the level of head they are, like to see more .300" on them though, still probably make a decent 450-475 hp engine depending on the build.
Never an issue in the changeover Charrlie. There are two ways it can be done, one of course is machine the old pilot off and weld a new one of the proper size on the old mounting cover, or use the mounting cover of a 67 and up converter. The shop that I worked for had the facilities to make...
Today I’m starting to put my 512 build into my 72 duster. Question #1 I’m running an engine and mid plate should the transmission mount be a solid mount with no bushings. #2 can my 904 transmission mount be modified to work. #3 where can I get a big block transmission mount that I need that can...
Hate to say it but just because the porcelain is cracked doesn't mean the resistor is bad. Given that, I would probably replace that one just because even if it works it just plain looks bad.
I have to say that this part gets talked about lots, and definitely gets blamed for many things it...
I did business with SMR in the past. The owner was a drag racer of some note, travelling up and down the East Coast. We sold him performance shafts, drums and other hard core race items for the TF 727 and 904 transmissions that the we made. He knew his stuff. Unless things have completely...
