Differences Between '67-'68-'69 Barracuda Notchback/Convertible Trunk Lids

Torsion bars are what lift the decklid. They are mounted under rear sail panel and run side to side. If you go with a fiberglass lid they wouldnt be needed.

US Car Tool Torque Boxes and Sub Frame Connectors Install

Sorry for the long post, hope it's helpful. I just finished installing USCT subframe connectors and torque boxes 5 days ago. Installation was done with the car completely disassembled and mounted on a rotisserie. I can weld but I'm not a welder if you know what I mean. Earlier this year we...

    Top replacement?

That is a nice setup. Thanks for your advice. I used 2” square tubing and 2” angle when I did the rear of my car and it worked real well. I used a factory frame chart and checked for level before and after using a digital level. My lift is very level, so I set the car on it and leveled it to...

Sad Ending to My Dart Build

Thanks for all of the kind words of support everyone. This place is one of my favorite spots on the web for reasons like this. We will all move on together and I'll start on another project eventually. I'll try to answer some of the questions the best I can. So far, State Farm has been...

    Deck Lid

Pretty easy fix. You will need an assistant. First, open the deck lid to the full open position. Have your assistant hold it in that position. Then carefully measure the distance from the highest point on the decklid to the trunk floor. Then carefully transfer that measurement to a 1-1/2 x 3-1/2...

    Weight loss.

I would never lift a Mopar by the bumper, the bumpers were never built strong enough to support the weight of the car. So I wouldn't worry about that. If you had any concern I would worry (wonder) about a front end collision. During a low speed front end collision the bumper could help a...

Today, dollar for dollar, is the 318 faster than the 340 ???

Nice and I bet it has a trunk load of street manners. While you are out cruising and having fun, the guy with the 600 horse small block is back at his garage cleaning the tires. His car isn't a lot of fun to drive any more. Every time he blips the throttle the tires go up in smoke and it heads...

    K-Member / Rack & Pinion Steering Suggestions

You stated " The Red Brick was able to hang with a C6 vette, just torsion bars and leaf springs." I think you are oversimplifying how the Red Brick can stay with a Vette. " Here's the builder's description of "The Red Brick" 1968 Plymouth Valiant 427 Engine Swap - Mopar Muscle Magazine...

    K-Member / Rack & Pinion Steering Suggestions

I didn't oversimplify anything. Excluding the engine, which we're not really talking about here, there are only a few differences between my car and the Red Brick. The 6 point cage, the Nascar sway bar, and 1.2" bars mostly. There are quite a few components on my car that exceed the capabilities...

Where are the body numbers on a 66 Barracuda?

So I’ve got a 1966 Formula S here at my shop hidden. A guy stopped in and wants to buy it. It’s a parts car and missing body sections I used for my car. Interior is trashed and drive train is all there. He wants me to “prove” it’s a genuine Formula S. So I show him the vin number, the hood...

Do you sleep easy knowing your jack is made in China?

That's why it was just a trunk jack, until it folded after minimal, appropriate usage! Regardless, it's literally only ever hoisted Neons, which is well within its ratings (almost typed 'abilities', and had to nix that). And the one job on the Caliber which, now that I think about it, it was...

    Re-Installing Tank on 67 Barracuda

Do you have NB or FB? I think you want to drop the tank down about 6" and support it. Feed the filler tube in from the top. Twist the tube back and forth until it goes in. Then lift the tank a little so you can pull out the filler tube and screw it to the rear panel. Then push the tank up...

    Jacking question 65 Dart

On these cars you can use a floor jack anywhere you want to on the frame or rear end. Never on floor pans or bumpers of course. I have also used a 4x4 between the lower arm and the front crossover of the frame to lift the wheel up to put a support under the tire.

How To Replace Trunk Torsion Springs with Lift Struts

I have been looking for good trunk torsion springs for my 69 Dart GT convertible. Well to no avail... So I will put struts in the trunk to keep it up... The struts I use are from a 1996 Ford Windstar. I did the same in a 66 Dart GT but did not document the process, so this time I will. More...

Hotchkis leaf issue, sits like 4x4.

Mine was the same, no reasonable amount of weight or bouncing would reset them. Try using a pry bar to physically move the shackles to the correct angle and see if they stay there. When I did it on mine the shackles actually popped back once I got them started in that direction. I also had...
