    "gripper pattern" u bolt question

When did Chrysler install flat u-bolts? My original 62 8 3/4, 64 Sure-Grip (tapered axles and all), even my bb 4 speed 67 with torque boxes, none of them came with flat u-bolts. Recently swapped the rear out of my 64 with a later rearend that had regular u-bolts and 4:10s, changed the springs...

    "gripper pattern" u bolt question

Both my 62 and 64 b-bodies with original 8 3/4 rears, 64 is an original 8 3/4 Sure-Grip, do not have the flat top knurl u-bolts. When I rebuilt the 62 rear I put the flat u-bolts on it, fearing the worst. Just redid the 64, couldn't find the flat top ones, bought them from Espos along with the...

A body with an A833 and a Gear Vendor installed

I've seen a few videos of people driving with a GV with an auto, but not a manual. I'd go this route if I come across an E/B body trans. Dodge 4-Speed Man - Gearvendors

Do I wait for the 5 speed?

This morning I asked a question in another thread about clips. Dan Brewer chimed in just now with the answer and pics, we all love pics, without being tagged or named or anything. Almost like he's a professional who's knowledgeable and active and supports his current and future customers...

Do I wait for the 5 speed?

Wow, kudos to you, and thank you. I looked into the factory OD, but since I have a big block my understanding is I would need a specific bellhousing, a truck one iirc. My thought was I could swap in an OD if a long trip was planned. With my rebuilt A833 4 speed and efi, sway bars, it's a...

    Installing linkage clips

How are yous guys installing these though? The entire clip under the stud, or the head of the stud through the two sections of the clip? And why are the clips wider on one leg, and opposite on the inner vs outer side? Iirc, I'm putting the entire clip under the head of the stud, then I turn...

'69 Barracuda T56 swap, floor, cross member

How far back is needed for that shifter/hump? Is it possible to measure from the floor/firewall seam, or maybe I missed that in this thread. I have a bench seat 4 speed, I know the bench will not work, but it would be nice to know. No plans to remove the bench, it's actually extremely...

Do I wait for the 5 speed?

I'm better for going through it. Bonus, my daughter was there every step of the way, every day, and she learned more than I can state, how to give people a chance to fail, how to deal with people who do not have your best interests in mind, countless scenarios. The support I received here at...

I Chose the 383 Big Block

I bought 2 used 383s because that's what was available for dirt cheap. Not disappointed at all. Aluminum heads and a tunnel ram, enjoy. This is the Big Block A Body Tech forum after all.

Check locally for 14x7 chrome reverse sbp. I see them pop up regularly, rusty, crusty, blast and paint.

Removing glued on carpet, any tips?

I've had luck with Automotive Goo-Gone, make sure it's the Automotive variant. Removes undercoat too. Also, it's easier to remove things with like things, for example I've used oil to remove a petroleum based glue, whereas using hot water and soap was useless.

Do I wait for the 5 speed?

That matthon dude knows a thing or two. Passon, Huff, GFI, they're all criminals, they continue to market and sell, and charge big $, for a trans that they know, and have known for many years, is defective. I've had discussions with Passon multiple times and met him, he's incompetent. He didn't...

[WANTED] '62 Dodge Lancer Disc Brake Conversion

I bought the front/rear suspension out of a low mile 69 Barracuda and swapped it all into my 62 Valiant. The front suspension had been converted to Scarebird disc, from what I'm told too pricey/not worth it. Came with a dual master, proportioning valve, shocks, everything. I had to run new lines...

    741 x housing

Is it leaking? If it ain't broke. I have a few pre-65 rears, nothing wrong with them. Definitely needed a hub puller to swap to 65 drums, now the drum and hub are separate and can pull the drums off same as 65 and up. I pulled the axles from one by removing the backing plates, putting the hub...

67 2 Speed Wiper Switch Demystified

I recall when my reverse lights would not come on I would have to turn my wiper switch on and off until the wipers would come on and finally the reverse lights. I have since powered the reverse lights another way, and now both work without issues. Strange set up, imo

    1958 Dodge

I completely agree, and also completely disagree. I have spray guns and multiple compressors, and I've prepped and painted a few cars. The painting is the easy part, prepping takes weeks/months. The guy who took all the trim off, not the po, took a DA sander and destroyed the finish, gouging...

    1958 Dodge

The plan is to dive into this car within the next few months. Someone posted a comment on the youtube that it reminded them of a 50s nascar. I was surprised when I realized, over time, this comment has sunk deep into my brain. Found 2 pics today of what I believe is a 57 D-501, hardtop no...

Rotors available (for now) for K-H disc brake cars

At this point, I can't tell if my old rotors are the machined type or the same as the new C-Tek rotors. I'll have to compare them to my old old rotors. If I am running the machined rotors now, and those are the rotors I took a grinder to, it was fairly easy and there is no negative impacts...

Rotors available (for now) for K-H disc brake cars

Another pic. I recall cleaning up the entire hat because it either rubbed a seal slightly in a spot or two, and/or that's how my brain works and I went overboard, thought any rustacles that develop in the future could/would rub my new seals, or at some point in the pad wear it may, might, could...

Rotors available (for now) for K-H disc brake cars

Before/After. It's not even the visible ridge that is the issue, it's right above that. If left alone, as the rotor hat is tapered, it only rubs the caliper seals when the pads are worn down.

Rotors available (for now) for K-H disc brake cars

I just hit it with a grinder to take off the excess casting that rubs the caliper piston seals. It was such a small amount, took all of a minute, no negative impacts.

    A833 2nd gear engagement issue

Just a thought, are the gearshift levers worn? If the squared off part of the lever is no longer square, the shift arm will turn on the lever before moving the fork. My trans would run through the gears fine when the engine was not running, but not shift into 3rd. Basically, it was still in...
