I agree with Mad Dart, solids are not bad at all. I run solids on my SB stroker, I love them, I will probably never switch back, even if I have a mild motor.

My idler arm, pitman and trans shift cable are very close to my headers. I have not had any problems out of them, but I have always had the ceramic coated headers. I could see how an un-coated pipe would cause problems.

I have the Doug's ceramic coated headers on my Valiant and I love them. I have been running these headers for about five years now, and the finish has dulled a little, but that was in the first few months and has not progressed any more. they greatly help with under hood temps as well.

Correct, manual valve body. There was another little block that came with the bracket that was intended to mount just under where the throttle cable mount went, so yes, it did have provisions for a kickdown. I do not know the manufacturer of this bracket, but it is the same type you can get from...

The throttle pedal was out of a early 80's dodge car, the throttle cable is the cheapo at Autozone. The return spring bracket is a no-name piece picked up at a local swap. the actual linkage hooking the two carbs together is a Mr Gasket setup.
