Best way to lift a slant 6 engine block ?

Last time I put the engine in my Colt I used the top of the head bolts AND another chain down to the trans brace bolt bosses. This kept the engine at a 30 deg. tilt and it went in like butter. If you just use the top bolts at some point you have to twist it over to align the bellhousing.

904 Push Button transmission shifting problem

Make sure it is adjusted correctly. Small changes make a big difference in how it works. What I did on my Lancer was this: Car on jack stands. Pan off the transmission. Using the Factory Service Manual. I had my wife in the drivers seat and we went through all the gears. Got it right in no time...

    273 Commando - UTG

Nobody wanted them is a little off for sure. When the 67's came with a 383, sure that was better. And in 68 when that 340 came along, that was a hot car. So the folks that wanted a lighter car that could handle, the 65-66 cars were still in demand. But they had a hard time at the drag or street...

I looked up re-certs, after shipping it just was not worth the wait. These cost me about 10 bucks over the re-cert price. Xtreme and MOKAN don't look at them. Deb is happy now.

    1972 Dodge Colt

I have .091 off the block as well. So I hope around 10.75. Steel shim gasket. That other head should have been at least 12 something, but that is another story. Man I appreciate all you guys following along. I just ran it again with water and I don't see any mixing. I let it get to 200 deg. or...

Back at it after Eclipse friends left. I had hoped to get it started today, but just ran out of me. But I do like the way that ARP Lube works, head pulled down so nice. I clean all the extra goop off so it doesn't run all inside the engine. It's hard to clean. Maybe tomorrow I will get it started.

    Demons at Walmart

About right. I have an original, glad they re-issued it. A few years ago when my job was crazy I built a lot of models. Now that I am retired and have my Colt race car I don't have time for models. Maybe when I get real old maybe I will have time.

And those guys on TV one hand cut metal all the time with no guard. My little Skil scares me every time I pull the trigger.

Picked up my head from the shop today. Man prices have gone through the roof. Glad I took all my parts and just needed machine work. But I am very happy with the work and how it turned out. 50 thousand cut, so now the head is cut .100. Bronze wall guides, 11/32 stem valves. 1.78 Intake, 1.50...

    1972 Dodge Colt

The easy to see one is 5/8 till it hits water. I am thinking mcmaster carr studs and opening the rocker shaft holes maybe to the next drill size. That should allow it to clear the studs going on. I talked with Will and he mentioned with his roller he has very high spring pressures. It makes it a...

Haven't measured them, but may be a half inch? It will be harder to measure the ones that go into the waterjacket. 6 of the 7 go into the WJ.

Maybe, problem is the threads are not exactly 90 degree, some have a little lean to them. I was thinking about threading some Allen set screws down and cementing them in. Then I can run bolts down and not worry about water coming in. Not sure the best solution right now.

I also worked on the throttle bracket today. It was cantilevered and I wanted to take all the flex out of it. Steel rod from bracket to the fuel log mount.

Not going to use that head right now, I have plan B at the machine shop right now. This head has some of the best porting I have ever seen, but I don't like those pedestal at all. I need to come up with a good solution.
