    El Cheapo vs. 440

We didn't get it done. We couldn't fit the master cylinder to the clutch pedal and make it work. But our time was over. So for now the car has to wait for another month, until I come back and we hopefully finally can make it driveable.

After I didn't get it running for the Hildesheim-Race, I left it alone for about a year. This was the right time to build me a new shop with a real roof and real walls and a door that I could close. Many years my place was more of an open air shop... Now finally the El Cheapo Garage is...

    5.9MAGNUM EXH MANIFOLDS

Hi RDunnam! Sorry for the late reply. I painted them with the VHT system. It looked nice for a while but then the colour faded like it always does... On my 1962 I had a better result with the POR15 system. I cut the bell-ends off and made me flat flanges with 2 bolt gaskets. Worked pretty well...

    5.9MAGNUM EXH MANIFOLDS

Those were the larger ports manifolds. I installed them many years ago with some grinding at the D/S. When swapping to a 440, I sold the manifolds and the next guy had a hard time to install them on a 1966 Fish

I had to hurry, because the race at the Hildesheim Airport was getting close... I didn't get it done, but the day was there and I wanted the car to be at the race. Just to get it out of my shop for the first time in 5 years. And to get some nice pictures in the sun, too :D This was...

    El Cheapo vs. 440

Now it was time to build the mighty 440! I brought my collection of parts to Mr. Wedgy's Big Block Shop. Let him do the measuring and filing and all those stuff that can't be done with a hammer and a cutting wheel! The heads are a later open chamber casting. What was the number? 346? I am...

Thank you very much! I really appreciate it! I cleaned my headers up and painted them with a high temperature coating set from VHT. Don't know, if it will last long. Ar, I don't really care... Parts for my 3rd member. Spool, billet yoke, bearings and a crush sleeve eliminator kit and...

With the Milodon oilpan the centerlink hit the pan even at little steering to the right. I really didn't want to smash or cut the Milodon. So I cut the idler-bracket off and had it welded back to the K-member about an inch deeper. As a result I do have about 1/2" clearance between idler...

    El Cheapo vs. 440

The Dart will be a track-only car. But maybe I want to drive around on our private property for some testing. So I built it a simple exhaust system with summit tubes, 3" muffler and turndowns. What I really like about the new look of my six-four is the conversion to a postcar. I...

    El Cheapo vs. 440

Finally I realized that I would have to cut the car to mount my headers. There was way too less room to install the engine and then weld the headers together. These were the first cuts into the car that really hurt... But now I was able to finish the headers. After mocup I will reinforce this...

One year later I can show just a little progress... My junkyard rescue from Fresno CA took some of my time. But I love these cars since I was a little boy... It still doesn't run. But I had to go for now. Hey! I didn't paint it. Just cleaned it carefully up. Was fun! Ok. I emptied the doors...

What he wants to say ... :D Last year on our trip all the Route 66 we finally made our way to Turner's Auto Wrecking in Fresno. We knew about the 1962 Valiant that is waiting there for us. But other than described it was partially parted out. The rear end was ripped off and we were so...

Hehe :D This is right. I cannot install the headers, once they are welded together. I will install them and then weld them together. This way I can be sure to have no exhaust leaks. The belts are 4pt Nascar from Beltenick. They were very cheap! Michel, I really try to get the car running for...
