im talking about rotational if it move like 1/4 inch maybe more but i have the intake manifold off at teh moment and the gear is only moving a very small amount also when the dist. is out i can hold the shaft and it a tiny bit

i got a new dist. gear for my 71 318 (rebuilt) and the gear is bronz and im pretty sure theres a type of cam that cant be used with a broze gear. What is that? an how can i tell if my cam is that? thanks alot

update i got it out by taking off the intake manifold an gettin something under the gear im gunna put everything back 2morrow thanks everyone

haha yah i really appreciate it but i ran into another problem, i was pullin the gear out with long needle nose and when i got it to the top i hit the edge of the motor and fell back in and when i went to pull the fuckin thing out again it was jamned in any idea on why it is or what i can do...
