New to 340 so I have questions

Agreed. Not a formatting problem, though. Just incorrect information. The person who wrote that probably heard of someone that had a 292/.508” cam in a 340 and took it as the gospel that the factory put it in.

Single rod replacement & weight difference

I’m assuming your numbers mean big end weight & small end weight. If so, the 2 gram difference between 166 and 164 is ok, but 429 and 415 is too big of a difference.

340 General Rebuild Info- Cam Recommendations

Oh, cool. That actually happened. I read something about that on here that they might be doing that. Didn't know they actually went through with it.

    340 with edelbrock heads overheating

Aluminum heads are more resistant to detonation than iron and therefore they can typically be run at higher compression than iron. I don’t know how good the gas is where the OP is, but I’ll bet the increased compression is not the issue.

    Biggest mistake ever- lunati cams

My buddy is doing a budget 360 build for his Dart. He had great success with small Lunati Voodoo cam in a 383 he had, so I told him to get another Voodoo cam. Lunati gladly took his money, then wouldn’t answer the phone when he called for updates on his order. The machine shop that did the work...

Saw an old friend’s ‘65 Dart wagon today. I’m curious if anyone here owns it or knows who does. I saw it in Campbell.

Rear sway bar for 1964 plymouth valiant

FWIW, The Red Brick, aka "Tim's Valiant", which is quite possibly the best handling torsion bar and leaf spring Mopar out there had 40+ year old stock 340 rear leaf springs. The rear suspension was very compliant. I wish I knew what happened to it. It changed hands twice since I sold it, but I...

    N. California Best Car Show is Saturday June 10th, 2023 at DeAnza Collect in Cupertino

The show seemed like it was better than last year, but a bit of feedback for those who ran the show. The photo thing was a great idea, but I don't know if you realized that cars were backed up all the way to the main entrance and had to creep forward and either idle or keeping shutting the...

I imagine they take cash at the show. They did last year. Attending the show is free, BTW.

Mopar Alley 31st annual car show - De Anza College Saturday, June 10th

Got this registration form off Mopar Alley's FB page. These guys still don't get how to promote a show. Sorry they are individual jpgs, but that's what they have available.

Bay Area - Alignment shop recommendation needed

Yes, they are. Custom Alignment - Balance and Brakes | Mountain View, CA FYI - I would avoid Pro Alignment on Winchester in Campbell. I know several friends had good luck with him, but when I took my Barracuda there many years ago after a front end rebuild, it drove way worse after he was done...

    Orignal owner info

It's cool to be able to put the pieces together like that! My Belvedere II came with all of the original paperwork. Using that info, I was able to track down who I thought was the original owner (he has a very common name), because he had to have been a certain age to buy the car and I knew two...

    Bay Area Meet and Greet?

Not sure if I will make it or not. Next weekend is kind of busy for me already. I wish Mopar Alley was better about communicating this stuff so those of us with a lot going on can plan for these events.

Good point on the centerline. Was this cam degreed or just installed by lining up the dots on the timing set?

    340 Engine Shake

The first video looks like lean misfire to me since it comes and goes. Doesn't look like an engine balance problem. BTW, the way to tell between a 273/318 forged crank and a 340 is that the 340 has a hole drilled lengthwise into the front and rear crank throws. It appears that the crank has one...

    Mopar Alley 2022 Cupertino

I talked with a couple of club members before I left. They lost a lot of the veteran members over the last couple of years. They way they said it, I think they meant that the are no longer with us, not that they aren’t in the club anymore. I didn’t push the issue. So they are floundering a bit...

    1971 Duster Handeling

Yeah, I sold the Red Brick in 2016. The guy I sold it to sold it to Mr Belvedere2 on here less than a year later and he since sold it to someone in Southern Ca. I actually almost never come on this site anymore because I don't own and a body anymore. I have a 1967 Belvedere II now.
