The trim helps to prevent the lock strip from working it's was out. I'm going with black trim on my dart sport, so I'll be painting mine. It'll be not so shiny and lend a more modern look to it as well

Did you ever solve this issue? Mine does the same thing and feels like it catches on something for a split second before it pops, does it every once in a while but is startling when it does

How is the gas cap and surrounding sheet metal? I know it was hit on that side but only need about 6" all the way around the cap

Like the title says, has anyone tried this? I'm thinking it might be a cost effective upgrade and still be able to get replacement parts at most any parts house. I understand that wheel size would be a problem with stock wheels, but for those of us who run 17's or bigger it wouldn't be an issue.

So I finally got my issue resolved. The fan controller is flaking out.... I went with a cheaper one instead of the Dakota digital one that was highly recommended. It doesn't turn the single fan on anymore, however when I give the A/C signal and both fans turn on, if you remove the A/C signal...

That's more than likely the source of the problem. It didn't seem to run that hot with the carb... After going to fuel injection, I cut the hole in the hood for the scoop. That'll be the first thing I try.

Thanks for the replies, mine will stay at 190 if it's early in the morning, but ~210 in the afternoon, even while going down the road. The only vehicle I have ever had that ran close to that was a Chevy, which runs notoriously hotter than everything else. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. Just hate...

So yes, it is timing control via the EFI, and I don't recall having this issue prior to going fuel injected. But it didn't run that well either, so that might be why I never noticed it. I'll try removing the shroud and see

This is a good idea, build it drive it and save up. Once you get the money saved, if you're anything like me, it won't be enough power anymore and you'll want more. Eddy heads will probably be enough wake up for it to satisfy that craving for more power

I'll second what @rumblefish360 said about the heads. Horses are made and lost in the heads. Gotta get air in and out. You can take an Olympic runner and if they're breathing through only a straw, they're not as impressive. Stick Magnum heads flow better than LA style, but you have to watch out...

This is the cam I'm running. Roadkill is running the same cam in the 360 in the vanishing paint Challenger. They claim 400 hp out of that engine. My 408 is stout but haven't dyno'd to get numbers. Other members may have a better suggestion.
