    speedway motors electric brake kit

It looks like you have the stock type sliding caliper setup. If you havent already done it you can replace the stock A body calipers with the later model police type, they have larger pistons and make quite a difference in stopping power. Putting some kind of power assist will do nothing to stop...

    Should I buy this 440?

It could be a police motor. They had thick balancers and log manifolds. They didnt use headers or special manifolds or steel cranks in because it was a cop car

New guy with M300 mini motorhome.

I would think twice before swapping intakes on your 318-3. The stock BBD intake has coolant going through under the carb where your exhaust crossover normaly is. An aftermarket intake may work, or it may not……… something to keep in mind.

bending 5/16 parts store steel line

A good flare tool is very nice. Those cheap clamp together things with the little buttons are hit and miss. I bought one that you clamp in the vice... it has different dies you put in and pull a lever to do the flare. It makes a nice centered flare 100 percent of the time. Im at work, dont...

Valve Lash - Hot or cold?

I have set them cold and it usually works ok… but the engine seems quieter and smoother when you set them hot. I’ve never tried it with the engine running, just one at a time going through the firing order.

The industrial engines are good too. The block has extra ribbing on the outside. The heads, water pump, and exhaust manifolds wont work in a car, but the intake, distributor, block, crank are good to go. The transmissions from them are full of HD parts. All had steel cranks

    1986 police engine

I went through an 85 or 86 police 318 for a 91 truck one time. It had the quadrajet carb with open chamber 360 heads. 345 or something casting number. The pistons were a little closer to the deck than a normal 318. It was a roller cam block with a flat tappet cam in it. I put it in the truck...

Turn a small drill press into a Bore/ Hone. Bolt it to the top of your engine block & do your own machining .

Try to use a drill press spindle with a 4 inch boring bar the tool with jump around and chatter like crazy. Please don’t waste any decent mopar blocks if you ever try it. Use a Chevy or ford, they are softer anyways

    Help identifying big block heads

If they are 516 those work great on a 383. They are closed chamber without the core plug on the end. 2.08 x 1.6 valves

Any advice on my 440 recipe?

With those pistons and your 452 heads you are going to have 8:1 compression or maybe less. Get some pistons with 2.062 compression height and you will be much happier with it

How many using an A500 overdrive ?

I didn’t see how it could be done without cutting out the crossmember. I cut it Out and welded in a u shaped piece of strap to The ends of the remaining member and the floor. I used the outer two original holes with a homemade trans support with a gm type mount.

    hughes rockers

I bought a set their rockers a few years ago. Put them on my stroker motor with a hydraulic roller cam. so Far so good. i didn’t get that kit, just the rockers. They are nice. No stupid needle bearings. Those Chinese rockers with the needle bearings are scary.

    906 or 915 ?

I built my first 440 for my road runner back in the day. Home ported 452 heads with stock valves, had no idea what I was doing. Car ran low 13 seconds with a comp .501 cam. I bought a set of 915 heads with 2.14/1.81 valves that had been hogged out by a local racer… they looked great. I had...

    727 to A518 swap

i Did this swap in a 68 dart. I didn’t modify the floor pan, but I did have to cut out the center of the torsion bar crossmember and weld in a piece of strap to tie it back together. Lots of info on this swap on this site.

    318 Poly A engine in a 67 Cuda

I bought some header flanges off of eBay and a kit from summit racing with a bunch of pre bent 1 3/4 pipe and collectors. worked great and was a fun project. The poly went in a truck so plenty of room, but im sure a set for an A body could be accomplished the same way. The poly is a neat...

    Slant 6 727 Transmission

My 61 w200 had a sort of “universal” bellhousing. It has the slant and v8 bolt patterns. There is another set of holes maybe for the flathead six? Im pretty sure whatever V8 bolted to it would need to have the early style longer 8 bolt flange. The slant had a weird offset flywheel that I had to...
