    1970 DUSTER 440 4spd 8 3/4 posi

I did the leaf spring relocating kit on my 65 barracuda and where you have to cut out the rear frame rail is where the rear e-brake cable guides are spot welded to. I used a spot weld cutter and removed the e-brake guides before I cut the frame rails. Sounds like to me that whoever did the...

    Spring relocation kits

I bought the Mancini kit, they are the same as the Mopar one. The kit is very basic, a couple of boxes (which you could actually make yourself) and a rear shacke kit along with a couple of spring perches. I drilled the boxes in three places so I can move the springs up or down one inch from...

Wilwood rear brake kit 7144 fit 15" draglites?

I made a cardboard template that is 14.2" in diameter and it only fits inside my 15X8 Weld draglite with 4.25 BS wheel by about a 1/4 of an inch and from there the wheel tapers narrower towards the mounting hub. As I mentioned before Wilwood also said it won't fit. I have decided to order...

Wilwood rear brake kit 7144 fit 15" draglites?

Thanks Keith Mopar, I also sent an email to Wilwood to see if the Weld draglites will clear and they said no. Hearing from you now it makes me wonder if they will fit? I also have been looking at alternatives. There is SSBC, their kit is expensive $740 and it is a single piston caliper, but...

Wilwood rear brake kit 7144 fit 15" draglites?

I'm about to order the rear brake kit for my 8 3/4 housing from Wilwood but I don't know if it will clear my 15" Weld draglite wheels. Anyone who has this kit if you could let me know it would be great. The part number is 140-7144 and it is the pro series kit with 12.19" rotors and a parking...

    Opinions on purchase?

I say cut out the entire bottom of the car and put a full chassis under it. You can go with a four link on the rear and struts on the front with a rack and pinion. If you can do the welding yourself the cost won't be too bad. A fair amount of work but the car will be much stronger and far...

I knew you were going to ask me that. I'll have to measure it. I'll get back to you.

Rear wheel/tire size on 65 Barracuda

I currently have 245 60/14's on the rear of my 65 cuda.

    41 3/8" Narrowed 8 3/4 for 65 barracuda

The spring perches I can move, but I do suspect that the springs must have been moved to the inside of the frame rails because the frame rail center to center measurement is more like 36". I'm more concerned about being able to fit some wheels without having to mini tub the car. I just didn't...

    41 3/8" Narrowed 8 3/4 for 65 barracuda

Is your car mini tubbed? How much backspacing and off-set do you have on your rims? I have the spring relocating kit already to move the springs under the frame rails. I took some measurements yesterday: wheel lip to wheel lip is 68" outside of frame rail to outside of frame rail 38.5"...

    Need spindles for disc brakes

I have a set of small bolt pattern disk brake spindles if you want to stay with the SBP wheels. $150 for the pair. Your original lower control arms will work fine.

    41 3/8" Narrowed 8 3/4 for 65 barracuda

I found an 8 3/4 rear end housing that came out of a 65 barracuda and it is 41 3/8" wide flange to flange with a perch to perch measurement of 31 1/2". This sounds very narrow to me but since it has the leaf spring perches I think it was in a leaf spring car and not a for link or ladder bar...

    65 Glassback fish

I put the engine in place today to check for clearance issues. I set the ride height on the lower control arm and put the rim on to see how much ground clearance I will have with the deep oil pan on the engine. Looks like it will be about 1.5" above the lower lip of the wheel and with about 4"...

65 barracuda need help with rim backspacing

Sweatybetty, I was going to ask you for a pic of your lear spring set-up! Thanks. Any pics of you mini tubs? I think I may eventually tub mine as well. And I'll check that site about the leaf spring info. Thanks again.

65 barracuda need help with rim backspacing

I have switched the front over to 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern and plan on getting axles with the same big bolt pattern. The wheels are available for 5X4.5" I like the wheels, but they are a little expensive.

65 barracuda need help with rim backspacing

What do you guys think of the Salt Flat Specials from American Racing? They are a two piece wheel and can be ordered with a custom off-set. I did a little more research on what will fit and I figure that you need a 12mm off-set on the rear wheel on a 64-66 cuda with a standard width A-body...

65 barracuda need help with rim backspacing

I checked the link you posted and I can't believe how reasonable the prices are! Unfortunately here in Canada they want to charge me $250 plus tax (12%) just to narrow the rear. That's without new housing ends. I don't know how much to re-spline axles but I'm sure it won't be $100. LoL...

65 barracuda need help with rim backspacing

I already bought the spring relocating kit so I will use them, but also it will let me move the axle back slightly to better center the wheel front to back. I didn't know that you could also accomplish this with the offset hangers. I thought about using spring sliders on the rear as well.

65 barracuda need help with rim backspacing

OK, so I have an E-body housing for my 65 barracuda and I want to narrow it to the stock A-body length so I can buy stock A-body axles instead of getting custom axles at a greater cost. I took some measurement of the rear tubs and the axle to see what kind of backspacing I would have to get on...

    65 Glassback fish

Here are the pictures of the frame connectors welded in, as well as the 727 tranny in place to check for clearances. The engine (360) is going in next just to mock everything up. Also you will notice that I have modified the tranny crossmember for dual exhaust. I will run the new TTi headers...

I was going to use these American Racing Outlaw II wheels but I don't think I can get them for the rear with the correct back spacing. So, I will have to get some different wheels.

    65 Glassback fish

I took some pics of some of the work I did over the last 6 months. It has been a slow progress but it is getting closer. I thought I would share. The first two are when I brought home the car with a partially disassembled 273, no tranny, 9" drum brakes. Next came the fabrication of some...

65 cuda what would you pay

I bought my second 65 barracuda in about the same state as this and I paid $2500. It came with a 273 and tranny out of the car. My first one I paid $3000 for and it turned out to be a parts car, oh well you live and learn, LoL. Most people won't pay much for an A-body. I ran into a guy at...

    205/60R15 front 255/60R15 rear

I always liked the looks of those rims, they look sharp. I'm looking to install those same tire sizes on my 65 barracuda. I too would like to know what the specs are on your rims. I have a pair of American Racing Outlaw II rims for the front but I don't know if they are going to be too wide...
