One upon a time I did a mild slant six build using a Holley 390, Offenhauser Intake with Dutra Duals and I was really happy with the results.
I am contemplating another build but the world has changed over the last 20 years and the carburetor manufacturers are pushing customers toward throttle...
The offerings from AusieSpeed do look like the best available options for intake manifolds. And I have used Dutra Duals in the past and was happy with them.
Over the last 20 years, Clifford Performance has acquired a bad reputation for things like warped castings etc.
Can anyone give me feedback on this?
I am wondering if it would be better to deal with either AusieSpeed or Offenhauser in terms of intake manifold, exhaust, valve cover, etc?
Thanks
Nice truck. Are the paint issues on the front related to rust? Have the floor boards been replaced? Do you have issues with vapor lock, or the carburetor/fuel getting too warm?
What do you think is leaking? The rear main seal? It is a crappy job, but I once changed one in a driveway. What are the needed repairs that you mention in your opening?
Does anyone know who would sell Offenhauser manifolds for the 1965 273 engine?
The very old Offenhauser catalogue lists the dual port, but I am more interested in the 360 equa-flow manifolds, either the high rise, 5699 or the low rise, 5489.
Does Offenhauser even cast them anymore?
I am looking for an Ignition Control Module for a 1975 Dodge three ton truck. It originally had a 318, but, I think that it was swapped to a 360 from a 1973 Polara. Is it the same control module for either engine? Any suggestions as to what I should use as a replacement? I looked to NAPA and...
Hey Notadork, did you sell your wagon? I like the car and am looking for an excuse to travel to Fossil. I was there in the summer. It's too bad you did not have the vehicle posted then
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to set up east - west carburetor mounting on a 19 63 Valiant slant six?
Any thoughts on these products is appreciated as I am wondering if they would still require a lot of fabrication.

Thanks for the link, but, it is for taking a six speed manual from a Nissan and that sounds kind of complicated for my purposes. I was thinking of a 1990s era five speed manual from a Mopar. Would it be that much of a challenge? I would have thought that the flexplate from the original...
I had not thought about swapping transmissions, but, that could be an option. I checked out the Hot Rod blog and there is a description of what is involved in taking one of the Dakota trans and putting them in a earlier model Mopar.

I hear you about the gears.
Many years ago, one of my friends was running a 427 in a 1966 chevelle and he had a wild camshaft + Victor intake + tricked out heads, so, he ended up running 456 gears..... The car was a total 1/4 mile machine, but, it was unbearable to drive more than about 50 km...
Wow, thanks for all the great information!!
I was thinking it might be better to get a 360 crate engine so as to get more modern heads and valve train, but, I will have to put some more thought into this.
As for Abbotsford and Saskatchewan. I was working in Saskatchewan until 2012, but, was...
Thanks for the great information. I was thinking of the heads as a way of getting around the issue of the limited selection of intake manifolds, but, Exeter Auto Supply have the Offenhauser 5489, so, it might be best for me to go that route. The Offenhauser was a common upgrade for such cars...
Would these cylinder heads work on a 1965 Mopar 273?

Is the 63 cc chamber too large, hence, compression ratio would be too low? Could I "shave the head" to raise the compression, or, would it be better to swap...
Usually, I have bought whatever brake parts (pads, drums, rotors, etc) that the parts person told me to get, but, I was looking to get some things from Amazon. Does anyone have an opinion on Durago, Centric, or, Beck Arnley?
Super cool car!!
What sort of ignition system does it have?
Is there any bondo and did the resto involve much metal replacement?
What's the deal with the lack of wipers? Did you have to remove the wiper motor to install the engine? Would it be possible to reinstall the wiper motor + wipers...
