    727 governor

I put in the 5400 rpm governor when I rebuilt my 727. (Wish I went went with the 6,000 instead) They are easy to install when doing a rebuild, and takes a little time to fine tune the shifts.

    trans leak

I had an annoying leak from the speedo sender a few years back. Replacing the seals didn't help. I finally removed the housing and found that there was a pinhole in the aluminum! Not sure how it got there or how long it was there. I sealed it with RVT, reassembled with the now very slightly...

    904 Slipping in second

Its possible that its just a band adjustment, but that may just be a temporary fix. When my 727 started slipping on the 1-2 shift, the band adjustment didn't help. 2 months later when it finally crapped out completely, i found out why. The band had lost all friction material, and the clutches...

Do all 67-69 small block Barracuda's run hot? Rant

What is the antifreeze concentration? 50/50 is a good all around mixture. But if you increase the amount of antifreeze in the ratio, say to 70/30, you reduce the coolant's ability to shed heat. If all else fails, try a 30/70 mixture….30% antifreeze, 70% water.

    GTS vinyl roof emblem

Isn't the headliner glued along the lower portion of the sail panel? If so, you may be able to separate the headliner starting at the base of the sail panel right near the top of that back seat.

    Engine in or out?

Yes, especially for removing torsion bars, idler and pitman arm, and steering box removal if necessary, etc. You just won't be able to set the alignment until the engine is in.

[FOR SALE] 742 Case 8.75" 4.89 Sure Grip Pumpkin 3.23

Probably not a 10 tooth pinion…….You would need 48.8 (or 48.9) ring gear teeth for that ratio. 9 pinion and 44 ring gear teeth would give you a 4.8888888 ratio. That may be where the 4.89 comes from, after rounding up. If you do have 10 pinion teeth, the ratio would have to have a "0"...

    Metal building condensation

I use the dessicant bags inside the drawers of my toolbox. That helps to keep the drawers dry while their closed. Seems like you can find them in just about anything you buy, like shoes. Its not a solution to your whole problem, but it should help your tools.

    water leak

The dipstick only sits on the top 2-3" of the oil. If there is water in the oil, it will be on the bottom. Drain it into a clear 5 quart container. Let it sit for 30 minutes and see if the water settles on the bottom.

    4 stroke engine understanding test.

Each revolution of the crankshaft fires 4 of the 8 cylinders. RPM is strictly related to crankshaft revolutions. 1 RPM is the crankshaft turning at the rate of once per minute. At 6,000 rpm, you would have 24,000 total "compressions" (in a 4 stroke 8 cylinder engine) per minute, and 48,000...

    Seriously at my wits end

Look above the pan rail to see if any fluid is present on the case. Very difficult to do, you may need a mirror. If there is fluid above the pan rail, on the transmission case, you probably have something other than the pan leaking. If thats the case, which part of the pan rail gets wet with...

    Seriously at my wits end

I had a similar problem with my 727 a few years ago. Turned out that The o-ring on the low/reverse piston pivot pin was broken and leaking. The pin is inserted into the transmission case while The tail shaft is removed. Requires a lot of tear down to replace it. You may be able...

    lost third gear

I did this last summer. Read some books, watched a guy on youtube, he had a 13 part series on the 727 transmission. Alto clutches, 4.2 kick down lever, bolt-in sprag, TF-2 reprogramming kit, and a 5,600 rpm governor kit from A&A Transmissions. I took me about 3 weeks but the end result was...

    How Much Coolant?

I hope you meant Dex-Cool Are you mixing transmission fluid with your coolant???
  21. 69swinger340391

    How Much Coolant?

Pure antifreeze is very poor at "heat transfer" It doesn't absorb heat from the engine easily, and doesn't give it up easily when traveling through the radiator. Thats why it MUST be diluted with water. If you don't need the freeze protection of a 50 or 60% mixture, you are better off...

    How Much Coolant?

My guess would be close to 4 gallons total capacity. Get 2 gallons of coolant and 3 gallons of distiller water. If you need more than 4 gallons you can use some of the third gallon of water to top it off. You can add 1.5 quarts of the third gallon to the mixture and your result would be...

Im looking for the top tank for a 2949066 radiator. This is for my 1969 Dart Swinger 340. The current radiator is a different part number. The upper hose connection is slightly offset, and the fan shroud doesn't fit because of that. I have a small leak that needs to be resealed, and I...

    440 center link issue

When I flipped the center link over, it solved my clearance problem. I assumed that the center link had been removed and reinstalled incorrectly in the past. The point I was trying to make was that maybe his center link was installed upside down as well.

    440 center link issue

I had a similar issue with a 1971 383 road runner years ago. For me the solution was easy. I removed the center link, flipped it over, and gained almost 1" in clearance. Try that and see if it works for you.
