when I build my engines , I check each lifter in the hole and hones them until they move freely. and clean the block and make sure the cam is lube properly. if you have really hard springs they recommend you break in cam with lighter springs. I ve never had a cam break in issue yet im over 50

it wasn't the seal the problem , it was the oil/carbon that was baked on the intake valve that was soaking up the gas and causing a bog. stumble. back in the day the fire had that issue and the gm tab was remove the injectors and blast the carbon off with coconut sand of some sort
