    Let's be honest....

I fail to see the point of a retro fit if you don't add all the fruit (engine mgmt, decent gearbox with highway ratios/OD), seems like 1/4 of step forward but that is just my personal view.

    Let's be honest....

Most of the ones I see here in Aus dump that tech to fit a carb and a 727. An old holley and 3 gears after all that work. Must have sore feet from wearing those clown shoes.

What cam to use in a 318

If you say so. It works great for me but just like OP I am not a bracket racer or a number chaser. Make of that what you wish.

    Replacement door hinges without bushings?

Where I used to work, we used to drill them oversize and fit a cut down old valve stem and tack them in. This was before these cars were so collectable, but it kept a lot of old beaters going at a moderate cost, plus if the tack weld was in the right spot, they didn't need repainting either.

Wow. Have you noticed the HUGE amount of stuff for sale here lately?

Over here, there are a lot of parts coming up and a lot of cars coming out of the woodwork for sale. Interest rates are up, houses are becoming unobtainium for a lot of people and the belts are tightening, so the toys, spare parts, or unfinished jalopies are hitting the market.. Crack head covid...

    318 value

Wonder how many you'd need to put in a container to ship over here (Australia) at a profit? Rebuilders sell for $1500AUD ($USD950 +) at the moment. Send me some A518s too, and we can go into business...

    Minivan Time fellas

Thanks :) My Wife has a 7 seater, Isuzu Mu-X which is a great family truckster, I just need something with rear doors. Minivans are a thing here, not as common out bush where I am situated. My most modern personal car is an '86 Nissan Pathfinder WD21, (2 door) which has room for a baby seat...

    Edelbrock LD340 WTH?!?!?

I'm not sure what the point of this thread is other than to split hairs. Each engine build is individual in its needs and characteristics. I run an LD340 and my old man has an LD-4B on his car. Both work well, and both were cheaper to buy than an equivalent(ish) new manifold, and a hell of a...

LOL!! EV range not only reduced in cold, ALSO reduced in HEAT!!

I own a leccy chainsaw and it is great for small jobs and stealth firewood collection where you are (allegedly) not meant to be cutting wood. But, I only use it to cut lengths short enough to get into my ute, then the petrol saw at home to dock up. I also don't discriminate - I don't just hate...

LOL!! EV range not only reduced in cold, ALSO reduced in HEAT!!

The thing that hurts the image of EVs (apart from spontaneous catching on fire and burning to the ground) is how they are being forced down the throats of consumers. Maybe its not just the power plant either. They are plain, soulless and uninspiring, modern car design is a lost opportunity...

LOL!! EV range not only reduced in cold, ALSO reduced in HEAT!!

I personally think (*most, there are exceptions) EV owners are the Vegans of the car world. Can't eat their soybean and tofu fake meat burgers without telling someone else what they are eating is wrong. Do what makes you happy, quietly

True car people are becoming a thing of the past

It certainly feels like the old car scene here in Aus has been taken over by two subsets - wealthy collectors, and rust entrepeneurs or 'flippers'. I do miss the old days where the forums were flat out with posts daily of people updating their project threads with real and gritty home...

will it hurt. whats your opinion

People have been doing rerings for almost a century without major issue. Is it optimal? No. Fresh hone, new rings, bearings etc. But, once you are into it as far as cam and cam bearings, you really need to evaluate how much you want to be into a rering vs a full rebuild. Are you doing...
