    Bringin' it back to life

My '88 motorhome's been sitting for about 15 months and I'm about ready to get it back on the road. It's got a 318 with single point fuel injection and I'm concerned about the old gas getting gummy or losing octane or "whatever" and causing problems on startup. Also wondering if the oil may...

Don't know how to ask/don't know what I want.

Seems like every time I use a floor jack or my engine hoist the LIFT part goes well, but the LOWER part is really "tickelish". I would like to be able to lower the load smoothly and controllably by controlling the valve instead of just barely cracking the valve and jerking the load, often...

    Pushbuttons suddenly inop!

I'd been having intermittent NO START events, but working the pushbuttons cleared the problem several times. I just figured adjusting the shift cable would fix it, like several others have reported with neutral safety switch issues. Then one day, I started the car and none of the pushbuttons...

    1963 t'flite ID

The guy says it's a '63 small block pushbutton trans. The #s on the driver's side pan rail are: E2464423 1327457 The first letter could be an F Wondering is it's a good spare for my 64ragtop. Thanks! BC

    Rearview Mirror Adhesive

I'm about ready to bite the bullet and buy a replacement mirror for the AZDart. It'll never be a show car, so "correct" is not an issue. The plan WAS to buy a replacement glue on mirror with a two-part glue kit, follow the directions and have done with it! Now that the first two mirror...

Well, I thought I was dancin'...

...'til someone walked on my hands! I thought the AZDart was just about ready for inspection, but the battery wouldn't hold a charge, so I bought a new one and THEN found why the battery was discharging. With the light switch OFF, the taillights and license light were staying on. I spent a...

[WANTED] Inner Fender for '64 Dart

Apparently the AZDart had a major battery "event" in the past. The battery tray is OK (maybe replaced) but the inner fender under the tray is rusted/rotted - basically it's LACE. I would GUESS that '63 to '66 would work, and Valiant part might??? All I need is the front section from the...

I know it's an alternator, but WTF???

This big heavy thing came in a package buy of parts some of which I needed. It looks kinda like a Mopar "flat back" alternator, but it's half again as big and the connectors are like none I've seen. The stacked "FLD" connectors read 3 Ohms from one to the other. (Meaning the field coil is...

    64ragtop window weatherstrip

Just got my new weatherstrip set from Steele Rubber. Wish there were instructions! Not hard to figure which of the three different length pieces goes where (just match the length of the wstrip with each of the three side rail sections) But I'm GUESSING the longer side of the extrusion goes...

    Door Sill Plates

It's been so long since I pulled the carpet out of my '64 Dart 'vert that I've forgotten if there were any sill plates to secure the outer edges of the carpet. I can't find any in my parts stash but then I can hardly find ANYTHING in there. I found some for '67 up darts in a restoration...

    List of resin body makers

I checked a couple of links in some modelling posts and was disappointed in their offerings. Does anyone know of a list of resin body kit makers. Seems like "once upon a time" I saw an early Dodge Dart ('63 - '65) body kit, but it may have been a brain fa - - uh senior moment. Thanks! BC

    '66 A Body folks, please...

I've come to believe that adding a hood to radiator weatherstrip to the 64ragtop will help with the hiway overheating that I've had in Texas summertime with the A/C running. The only one that I found is for '66 A bodies. It's 54" wide with 15 holes punched in the bottom and comes with the...

'63 Dart (maybe Valiant) firewall mod.

Anyone know if the wiper motor is attached to the firewall? I'm trying to figure how to deal with the hump the wiper motor uses. It doesn't want to share space with a small block distributor Someone posted that after moving the wiper motor, the linkage needed modification. That doesn't...

Hood Scoop memory (or brain fart?)

From my early days at dragstrips and MOPARS, my favorite hood scoop has always been the '63 MaxWedge style. They got a little taller and lost the dip in the middle, then got taller still. The later designs must have worked, but my favorite didn't change. That said, I think a MaxWedge scoop on...

    '63 Dart rear window weatherstrip

Is the rear window glass & weatherstrip a one year only combination? Will '64-'66 glass and weatherstrip work in a '63 car? Is the '63 prone to leaking and is the '64 up gasket setup better? Thanks! BC

Please help me ID this Holley 2-barrel.

    Air compressor system basics

I've got a big 220 volt compressor and read somewhere that I needed a regulator, filter & dryer. I cheaped out and went to HF and I suppose that was my big mistake. So, how much filtering and drying do I need to get nice clean DRY air to my tools and blast cabinet. There are prices all over...

    Power steering hi pressure hose

Seems like every hi pressure power steering hose I see for Mopars (all I've looked at!) the first several inches of the hose are rigid steel tubing. Then the rest of the hose is crimped to the pipe. Is that rigid pipe there to withstand the pressure coming out of the pump, that the hi pressure...

    oversize gauge cup??

So,I bought this 6,000 RPM tach (just right for my /6), got a great price, THEN found I had no way to mount it. The thing is right at 3 3/4". Too big for most "regular" gauge cups, but too small for the big tach cups I find. Anyone have an idea where such a gauge cup might be found? Thanks! BC

    The Preacher

So, a man of the cloth, in a strange town on church business, checks into a motel. Registration finished, he states to the desk clerk "...and I certainly hope the pornography channel on my television is disabled. The clerk responds "No, it's just regular **** - you sick fuxx." Best one I...

    Dart "Cool Aire" A/C

My 64ragtop came with a hacked Cool Aire evaporator with no thermostat and switches for the blower and the compressor. MAX cool or OFF (or BLOCK OF ICE if ya turned the compressor on without the blower. The AZDart had a Cool Aire evap in the trunk that actually had the control unit...

    Slanted timing issues

    3 Point Belts??

Of course, I hope to never find out if 3 point seatbelts are really more protective than the 2 point ones in my ragtop. For that matter, I hope to never test the 2 point belts I have! That said, I would like to retrofit 3 point belts into the 64ragtop. The difficulty I see is finding a...

    Like Roseanne Roseannada said.....

.....It's always something! I think the kickdown linkage in my 64ragtop is finally configured correctly to function. I'd be road testing it now, but the charging circuit is acting up now. At idle, with the lights off, the ammeter shows a slight charge. Bringing the revs up to 1500 or so ...

    Trans Kickdown Linkage Guru Sought

After my slightly embarrassing "schoolin'" by several members, I went back to some "as found" pictures of the ragtop. The car came to me with an Edelbrock carb on a 1" high adapter and the K/D linkage totally FUBAR. What I spotted first was the linkage was out of alignment, due to the lack of...

    904 misbehavin'

Finally got the ragtop out and ran about 80 miles the other day. At 50 miles or so, the trans was balky at shifting into 3rd. I put it in neutral, blipped the throttle and went back to drive. The tranny went into 3rd just fine. For the rest of the ride, the 2nd - 3rd shift was a maybe, but...
