Things Change.. Butters is now getting a 392

I seem to be several characters and sometimes even words ahead of my fingers when I type. And most of the time I get letters out of order because I think my right hand is ahead of my left, or vice versa. So I completely understand. I have to read my posts and emails several times before I...

Things Change.. Butters is now getting a 392

Sorry you are having the glitches, but I am sure you will work them out and then you can make vulgar displays of power at will. Any ideas on the trans issues?

Things Change.. Butters is now getting a 392

The OEM fan fuses are a 40 amp and 50 amp based on the diagram I have, so I would be surprised if they only pull 8 amps. Can't remember an OEM fan that pulls so little. I bet the OEM wiring is 10 gage or bigger, too. There is a 10 amp fuse for the control side of the relays, maybe that is...

Things Change.. Butters is now getting a 392

I am sure the PCM is controlling the fuel pump relay. It does in the OEM setup, no idea why (or how) Sublime would do it any different.

    18" Wheel help

I found an 18x9 +35mm wheel that I think will work. I can run a 275/35R18 on it, even though a 9.5 would be better. It was an open box deal at American Muscle so I bought it and then a second one so I have a set. The nice thing about the design of the wheel is the face is further out and I...

Chrysler 300 seats in a Duster

I did some layout work years ago when I was trying to figure out how to setup my garage and was stunned to find the a '74 Duster without bumper guards was almost the exact same width and length as a 2015 Challenger. Certainly there are differences, and the Challenger is some 5-600# heavier, but...

    18" Wheel help

Interesting. I've always planned to go with a square setup but things keep pushing me in the direction of a staggered setup and this adds a twist I hadn't thought about before. Thanks.

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

As I recall, the later cop car Diplomats or something had an adapter, but the angle of the filter was different. Seems like they wouldn't work, but maybe it was just that had to be rotated different. I've never installed one, so not saying I am right. Just seems like I have heard something...

So how does it drive? Did I miss the post on that?

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

I wonder if the 90 degree adapter needs to be removed to get it orientated correctly and it can't just be rotated. There is a different adapter that doesn't fit (as I recall), but I think it is aluminum. If yours is iron, it should be correct.

    18" Wheel help

I completely agree that sometimes you have to find ways to make things work. And sometimes we get tunnel vision and forget to look for other solutions. So wise words. But in this case, I think that is an extreme solution. As I understand it, the OP doesn't want to run custom brakes (required...

    18" Wheel help

The wheels on the early A-Body look like American Muscle AMR's. Here is an 18x8 w/ 5.7" BS Mustang AMR Charcoal Wheel; 18x8 (05-09 Mustang) - Free Shipping They also have 18x9 and 18x10, but you aren't going to get them to work with a stock width A-Body 8.75. I think you could step up to a...

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

If anything, 50 years ago or so I would expect someone would have been removing the booster, not adding it. The OP's Dad doesn't strike me as someone that did more than drive it, so it would have had to have been prior to that. At the same time, no idea why it wouldn't have been on the fender...

    72 duster resto

Personally, I would always go aluminum unless I was looking for a restoration look or competing in something that had rules that required iron. If for no other reason, they weight half as much.

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

On my '74 Duster 360, power disk brakes were standard. Looks like that isn't the case with a '71 Duster 340 though. But based on your earlier pictures, the booster was there and I highly doubt someone went to the effort to add it. Also, if it has disk brakes (can't tell from your pictures)...

Is it ok to copy a W5 head and make it better or are we just mad at Speedmaster

I wonder if that is why Summit (and now Jegs?) is pulling Speedmaster products. Before they could turn a blind eye, but Speedmaster crossed a line.

Is it ok to copy a W5 head and make it better or are we just mad at Speedmaster

I think places in the US that sell copycat parts that violate patents should be able to be sued as if they stole the patents themselves. Can’t sue someone in another country, but doesn’t mean the parts should be able to be sold somewhere that they violate the patent.

    Air Tracker

Problem with an AirTag is the apps that people use to check for them. Because AirTags are used to maliciously track people and cars, there are apps to see if someone dropped one in your trunk at a show or stuck it to your car while you are away so they can "follow" you home and steal your car...

Rewiring my EFI Magnum - 1970 Dart Swinger

Nice! So nice when you get to see the fruit of your labor. And really cool that you got cruise to work. I remember putting cruise on a '78 Volare and struggling to get it to work when I discovered the exact same issue; brake light switch needed to be adjusted.

Hemi Swapping a perfectly good 70 Duster

I went and looked up my cost, $255 for the cam and $74.08 for the springs. The stupid thing was that it cost me $91.95 for shipping! That was when shipping costs were stupid high, I should have waited. I saw too many people trying to find parts and figured I would rather have them on the...

    Gen3 hemi tkx swap

I see some similarities. Yours looks much more svelte and cleaner though. I assuming you are running a narrow front wheel? I looked at dropping mine 1" but the tie rod end started being an issue again even though I would run 18" wheels with mine.

Is it ok to copy a W5 head and make it better or are we just mad at Speedmaster

If things go too far, I think they will be out of business before all the hand porters die. Your port might be better but I bet it will never be the cheap option. And based on Speedmaster's success, seems people care more about cheap. :D To be clear, I'm not a fan of the option, just...

Is it ok to copy a W5 head and make it better or are we just mad at Speedmaster

With the advent of 3D scanners, it is even easier to copy parts. Who needs to spend the time and money to build their own CNC port tooling when you can buy a single head and us a 3D scanner to duplicate the port. Brent and @pittsburghracer become unnecessary at that point. That might be...

Hemi Swapping a perfectly good 70 Duster

You are running the cam without a tune? I've seen good numbers with that cam but it was after a tune. Best part is the price, at one point they were less $100 for a 6.4 M6 cam. I think mine was $212 a year or more ago.

Is it ok to copy a W5 head and make it better or are we just mad at Speedmaster

If we didn't have copying and improving products we would still be stuck with Model A's. The whole reason cars have gotten better is because someone said to themselves "I could do that better" and thus pushed the envelope. It's why we have different motors, transmissions, brakes, etc. But...

Hemi Swapping a perfectly good 70 Duster

Personally, I think the only thing wrong with a 5.7 is the cam. It's better than a stock 5.9, but it is similar in that it just kind of falls on it's face at about 5200 rpm. Put a mild cam in it and it no longer feels like a truck motor. That's why mine is getting a 6.4 M6 cam.
