Are shaft mounted full roller rockers needed?

With high spring pressures and psycho rollers a few. That's why I epoxy magnets in the heads and block as a safety measure. I guess it depends on how hard you push your equipment.

Are shaft mounted full roller rockers needed?

I don't think they are needed. One thing i don't like about full rollers is if you ever break a rocker arm the needles go everywhere. On street motors I run 273 adjustable rockers and have run them to low 12s in the quarter and never hurt one.

    Is it worth it

Build a car that reflects your personality, who you are. A /6 Duster is a perfect starting point for a hot street car. Anything you do to it will make it worth more and more. Do what work you can yourself to keep the costs down and learn as you go. Enjoy the hobby and don't get caught up in the...

We have discussed making a mold out of that hood and making a new lighter one out of carbon fiber but no plans on producing them to sell.

    175.39mph in my 74 Duster

We built that hood. I wasn't too thrilled about the idea but but the closer it got to being done the more I liked it. We followed the body lines in the hood with the scoop. Widened and lengthened it and changed the shape of it. It took the Chevy look out of the equation(I think). I hate to say...

How many CURRENT owners of real '74 360 Duster 4 speed cars on here?

The car in my avatar, while not a 4 speed, is a true 74 360 car.

    175.39mph in my 74 Duster

It was a little flat. Jetting was spot on after reading the plugs. If it wasn't, it would melt running that long. I used to pull timing out in high gear with a timing computer while drag racing and would gain a little bit of mph. On that run in the video i had 6 degrees pulled out for the whole...

    175.39mph in my 74 Duster

Good shocks, super stock springs, lowered the car as much as the tires would allow and a drag race front end alignment with as much caster as I could get.

    Clutch pedal mods

If you can find the earlier pedal assembly the 6 inch dimension is already there, plus the clutch pedal shaft rides in needle bearings instead of nylon as an added bonus.. Herb McCandless never modified the z bar back in the day, said it made the clutch a bear to push, lengthened the clutch rod...

    175.39mph in my 74 Duster

With super stock springs, an adjustable pinion snubber, and QA1 shocks set real stiff there wasn't much squat. QA1's are worth their weight in gold both here and on the drag strip.

It went staight as a string. Blocking off the grill made it move around just a little bit, very stable though.

What's next? maybe a whole different car. A friend that helped me on this project has a tube chassis 67 Barracuda that we may run with this motor and rear end. The Cuda is much lighter, much lower, and much more aerodynamic. Hoping for close to 200 mph.

    175.39mph in my 74 Duster

The car was equiped with an iron head(ported 906s), 440, 12.8 compression, Turbo Action converted with the 727. I took out the Dana 60 Ladder bar/leaf spring set up out and put an 8 3/4 in it's place with QA1 shocks. Did some aero stuff and had to install a fire system. The car is IHRA and NHRA...

M/T radials on the back and Moroso DS2s on the front. We tried 2.94s first then 3.23s. I still had my drag racing converter in it and it was WAY wrong for this event so it liked the 3.23s a little better..

    175.39mph in my 74 Duster

The latest adventure in my 74 Duster race car was land speed racing in July of this year. The event took place at Loring Air Force base in Limestone Maine. My 440 powered Duster reached a top speed of 175.39 mph on the 1 1/2 mile track. An awesomely fun weekend.

440 Source big block aluminum heads

Thanks for the input. I know what I have to do. The iron heads i am running took copious amounts of work to get to work, including epoxy and some minor welding. Not going to put that much work into heads again that are going to stall early like these did. There is only so much you can do with a...

    Header/tire problem

I modified a set of Hooker B-body 2 inch headers for my 440 Duster. They all come apart and are totally under chassis. I like the taller front tires. It took a lot of work but I was happy with the results.

440 Source big block aluminum heads

I don't think i'll gain much over what I have now. I think i'll be much happier down the road if I pony up the extra money for a head that has the potential to flow large amounts. The new motor is going to be a 500 so it'll need more air.

Has anybody bought a pair of these? I'm looking for a reasonably priced set of heads I can experiment with and take a grinder to, kind of go crazy on them without breaking the bank. I realize that they will never compare to an Indy or B1-Bs but the price is right and i'm a hands on do it myself...
