    Console Automatic Shifter Thread Size

10-24 is the thread size for the black button on the end of the automatic shifter cable. It's much smaller in diameter than 1/4. More like 3/16.

Here you go. The seat in earlier the pic isn't mine however I have a '70 Dart and it's the same setup:

source for wire link between halves of the seat track system

You may already know this; on the pass seat there is about a 5" guide strip that the release wire cable rides in. On the driver seat the cable just rides in the eye hook.

    Rear Seat Cushion Removal

Sometimes if the bar that goes into the retainers is bent a little, you can't push it back far enough to release. You may have to push and lift while sliding your hand under to push out the bar part of the seat frame that is stuck. If someone else can push and lift the seat a bit it will of...

    70 Dart Swinger Radio

From what I recall, the thumbwheel was in the Swinger 340 and the knob style was in the standard Swinger.

    Console Ashtray Door Guides

A month or so ago one of us posted about reproducing these guides using a pour method into molds they had made. I thought I had saved that post but now I can not find it?

    Changing out day/night mirror glass

I did this on a number of AMX / Javelin mirrors years ago. Worked the glass out and had a local glass guy cut new ones to shape. Worked well however those mirrors had the somewhat flexible black construction. The day / night mirror glass is actually tapered so it can be tricky as the new cut...

    1970 Dart Dash Pad

In 2008 I picked up a blue/blue '69 Fairlane Cobra 428SCJ. The four pod molded blue dash was perfect. Guy before me said he came across a station wagon for sale and bought it just for the dash. I understood. I remember in the '80's buying a '66 Tempest for the sweet interior parts to upgrade the...

    1970 Dart Dash Pad

Over 20 years ago, Just Dashes and Mr. G's. Factory fit and finish, still looks new. Worth the wait to do it right. Been in this hobby (really life) forever. Still rare to find 'spot on' repro parts. A good amount are fine and without them we'd be lost. And we applaud those who keep making them...

    Shifter Knob Removal Situation

Makes sense. Shifter works great. You'd think it would come loose but isn't happening. I've heard of guys breaking the cable so want to avoid that. Time to order the button and then when it comes, time to drill. Where's that portable x-ray machine? It's the pandemic's fault. Been happy...

    Shifter Knob Removal Situation

Thanks. It's a '70, mint original wood grain knob. I'm thinking I'll just drill a hole or so in the button to break it apart. Then I can lift off the knob and have access to the stud so I can clean off the 'remains' of the button. First I'll order a reproduction button to have in hand for...

    Shifter Knob Removal Situation

There is no noise, only the tension of the cable twisting as I turn the knob. The button is not coming loose off the cable stud. It's not a matter of spinning it enough; it's that the knob button seems to have bonded onto the cable stud. I can force turn it almost a full turn and then when I...

    Shifter Knob Removal Situation

Ready to remove the console. Removed knob set screw. Button and knob are interlocked. Turn to loosen and will not break free. Pull up and turn, push down and turn, same result. Feels like the button has bonded to the cable stud. Pretty sure last time it was out was when the carpet was...

    Rear Speaker Mounting Q

1970 Dart: Wondering how to mount rear deck 6x9 speakers. From inside the trunk, I see 4 very small holes around each speaker opening. There looks to be about 1/2" of space between the lower metal and the package tray which has the speaker slits in it on each side. I would think that the...

Picked up a set from Van's, $14 including shipping on eBay Took the driver seat stopper out; stud came out easy as the original stop was cracking Put the new stopper in a cup of hot water & the stud in the freezer After a few minutes, put some lithium on rim of the stopper, put the stud in...
