The selector shaft seal CAN be changed with the trans in the car. I think KD made the tool I have for removal and installation.

Kickdown linkage goes from the throttle linkage on the carb. down to the trans. right above the drivers front corner of the pan.

There, I fixed my previous post. I meant "recovery" tank. The empty drums are worthless.

The beauty of a refrigerant recovery tank is the "Y" valve and the 1/4" SAE flare fittings. I use one for changing boat oil on inboard V8's.

Ask a local HVAC shop if they have an old, contaminated, refrigerant recovery drum you can buy.

Is anything touching the exhaust in that area?

I put my 8.8 in full width with mustang wheels.

I installed my explorer 8.8 full width, with mustang 17" rims.

8 3/4 mopar shock mount plates are a bolt on with an 8.8.

Check the for sale classified, or run an ad in parts wanted, or check ebay.

Shock mount plates from an 8 3/4" mopar rear will fit the 8.8.

Lots of backspace (5 3/4"?) on the bullitt rims on mine. Look for the L in the ratio on the tag on the 8.8. They are the LS diff.........mine is 3L73.

Yup....been lookin at it for a bit........gonna have to do a trans tunnel tune up.....thats why I was lookin at the 727 or 904 route. I just can't come up with a good combo of $ and gear ratios that will equal what I can get with $400 at the junkyard. I'd leave the 904 2 cable shift 65 only...

Looks like my best bet is to sell this 904......it is lockup. Looking at my rear diff options I'll have way more in the ford 9" I have or an 8 3/4" I was looking at than an explorer 8.8.

I looked again....the speedo hole on my 65 trans is about 1", the 93 trans has about a 1.5" hole. Is it possible to use a non lockup converter and ignore the switch? I've heard that lockup converters are bad news. I haven't had time or place to play with cars since getting married in 92 and...
