    Cleaning up an axel housing

You could use electrolysis on rusty parts that you're afraid of damaging with sandblasting. I've been using it on a lot of stuff lately with great success. http://www.earlyabodyforum.com/board/messages/2/1056.html

    a note on 904s and 727s

Okay man, in laymans terms, please help me to understand all this. Why do your feet get hurt when a tranny "explodes"? What comes up? What does a blanket mean? And how does a splatter shield work/fit? Can you put one on an automatic? Should you? I have my nice little all stock original...

    Will 7 1/4" axles fit 8 3/4" rear?

    Okay, I hear ya.

    Will 7 1/4" axles fit 8 3/4" rear?

I'm going to be sending my old 7 1/4" rear to the scrap heap, it's fried. I think from the different size tires the PO had on there. Should I save my 7 1/4" axles? Is there anything besides brake parts, studs etc. that I should keep off my old 7 1/4" rear?

Average price of a 8 3/4 small bolt pattern?

Excellent! Sounds like a good price. Keep the small bolt pattern and spend the money on the car, like you said. I feel the same way. I have steel rims and rallyes in small bolt and they are all great, nothing wrong with them...no reason to downgrade to large bolt pattern.

Average price of a 8 3/4 small bolt pattern?

I'd go for it. I paid $100 CDN (85 USD) last year for one, 3.23 suregrip but that was a steal too. I was always expecting to pay $500 or so.

    7.25 posi??

    Only another 8.25 rear.

    7.25 posi??

Yeah, my '65 Barracuda has a 7.25" suregrip rear, small bolt pattern A-body size. It's a 3.23. I have the Chrysler IBM card from Chrysler historical too, and that shows it on there. Once you go suregrip, you don't want anything else! I just picked up an A-body 8 3/4" small bolt rear...

    Help!904 pushbutton pull

I replaced my gear shift cable in my '65 and found these directions pretty good, except I had to put the small screwdriver into the LEFT side to depress the lock spring. Opposite to what they have pictured. Seems to me there might be a Service Bulletin about that. If you don't have success on...

    904 Conversion to 727 in early a-body?

Here, an old email I saved from the EVBC List. From: http://www.imperialservices.net/Imperial%20Services%20-%20'60-'72%20A-Body%20Parts.htm These cables allow the use of your stock '64-'65 Console with a '66-up transmission. Currently available as a commonly available B&M shifter...

    904 Conversion to 727 in early a-body?

Is it a slant 6 tranny you've got now? You can find the numbers on the drivers side of the tranny. I don't think the slant 6 one will bolt to a V8 though. A-904-G = slant 6 A-904-LA = V8 Why not get a later style 904 (same as a 904 with a different number) like an A-500 or A-518 or...

I'd go with Duster346, obviously I missed the boat. I apologize about that......doh!

I've had it with this torque converter bull ****

You need a small spacer, it's described in different literature, like Tom Condran's book called "Mad about Mopars". He calls it an adapter ring. To match any pre '68 LA engine to a later year tranny you need this. It's a simple sleeve with outside diameter of 1.81" and inside diameter of...

What kickdown cable conversion should I use?

I want to switch to a cable instead of the hacked up, jimmied, welded and spare parts kickdown linkage I have now. My car is a '65 Barracuda Formula S with the automatic A-904. I have a 273 commando intake (4 barrel) with a '69 Carter AVS on it. I know www.bouchillonperformance.com has one...
