Went on to Summit to find the cheeta
valve body and they had the installation
instructions right there including pictures!!
Thanks to all you guys for the tips, you guys are
always so helpful !!!!!!
Thanks Tony I will give this a try. I guess this
also means you like the Turbo Action cheeta valve body?
My next question would have been which
brands are good. Thanks again I really think I
can do the installation.
How hard is it to install a reverse manual
valve body into a 727? My mechanical
skills are decent but I have not been too
deep into an auto trans. Also is there any
reason at all to keep the kickdown linkage
in place or does it get removed?
I was wondering which oil we need to use
in our torqueflites. I am running both 904's
and 727's in street car applications.
Would you use a different or special oil
in a race car trans or even in a street car with
a reverse manual shift valve body.
You guys all got it the tab was out of the manual valve. It probably
came out of the slot because the external gearshift
control lever was too low on the shaft and didn't
let the tab rest deep enough into the groove
on the manual valve. I got the tab back into the groove then tried to get it in...
Went out to start it again today to see if it fixed itself
but no such luck but I did notice that when I
started it in park you could feel it try to
lunge forward even though it was in park I think it was in first
And park at the same time. Where neutral should
be is also first. She's just...
Never had the valve body out but just serviced
It with new filter and new external seals
because it was out of car for engine swap
went from 318 to 360. Car had about 10
miles on it with the 360 where tranny operated
Perfectly. Parked car then next day everything was first gear
Got my 70 dart out for a spin and every
gear was first gear. Park still works fine
but put the car in what should be reverse
and it's in first, same with neutral it's all
first gear no matter where you move the
shifter except that park is working fine.
The pointer on the column is working fine...
Just put a 360 into my 70 dart you can
Keep your converter and 904 but you
Will need to get a b& m flexplate for
The 360 it makes up for the external
Balance issue because it is like a pie
With a piece cut out it's about $100 shipped
Ok to answer my own question, just
Received the b&m 10239 plate for
The 904 it is about an inch smaller
In diameter which amounts to a half
Inch more clearance all the way around
Which is needed for starter clearance.
Trans was working great behind the
318. That engine was rated I believe
at 230 hp the 360 I built I guessing
will be about 300 hp. Purple shaft
cam 280-474 lift, x heads, 9 to 1
compression.
Just to be on the safe side I ordered
The 10239 flexplate I mounted the 10236
On the converter just to see what it
Looked like, very minimal clearance for the
Starter gear, maybe not enough, will
Post measurments when I get it. Thanks to all !!!!!
That's what was really puzzling me
Was why it wouldn't work for both
But b&m lists it for only 727 and a
Different part number for the 904
The original 318-904 and 360-727
Are the exact same plate. I did call
B&m and the person I talked to there
Said they thought it should work but
I'm not too...
Is the 10230 plate totally round?
The 10236 plate is round with a
Big bite taken off one side so you
Can run a neutral balanced converter
So it basically makes up for the
External balance for the 360 on the
Plate instead of on the converter
No, she is a la engine. I was reading in
The archives of people having
Problems with their starters not
Engaging all the way because it was
Hitting the flexplate on the b&m plates
So that is my next concern.
Has anyone tried to use the b&m
Flexplate 10236 with a 904 trans?
B&m lists this application for the 360
727 combo and lists a different plate
For the 904. I am going from a 318
904 to 360-904 and already have the
Flexplate from a different project. It
Does mate with a 10 inch...
