    TKO 600 ....Anyone done one?

Ya, I read the site info and it sounds like a good idea if you are starting from scratch, but to put more money and work into changing gears when the diff is new and ready to go doesn't make sense to me at this point. I honestly have to say that right now I'm leaning toward the T-5. All the info...

    TKO 600 ....Anyone done one?

Richmond looks interesting but the 5 speed is 1 to 1 final ratio. No good for my 4:30 gears, the 6 speed is much larger. Interesting though is that when I took the pumpkin out to inspect it after buying the car, the ring gear had the double diamond stamped in it. I didn't know who the...

    TKO 600 ....Anyone done one?

Well, as usual I'm battling over the decision of which 5 speed transmission to install in the Duster. There is some good info on this site regarding TKO and T-5 transmissions. I've had some members PM me with some additional information and opinions about this subject and I appreciate the input...

    TKO 600 ....Anyone done one?

I spoke to someone at American Powertrain today about Tko 600,s and T-5 5 speeds. Some really interesting information about both, pro's and cons. The T-5 is smaller and lighter but has the shift rail along the top so there seems to be some question about clearance to the torsion bar mount and...

    TKO 600 ....Anyone done one?

I can do the machining of the bellhousing myself if necessary, would only take 3 or 4 hours. The problem with dealing with Keisler is that they say they have a 3-4 week backlog and from all I've read about them, it's more likely 6 weeks by the time it gets to me in western Canada. I'm not really...

    TKO 600 ....Anyone done one?

Todd, which final drive ratio did you get and why do you have the TKO 500. It sounds like you haven't had any shifting issues, what are the particulars of your car: HP, gear ratio, 1/4 mile times. Are you glad you did the conversion? I would love to see a picture of the modified case to do the...

    TKO 600 ....Anyone done one?

Todd, did you use the Keisler TKO or a stock one. If you used the Keisler, what kind of mod was made to the case? I do have the Lakewood bell in the car right now but no clutch linkage installed and no headers yet. Just mounted it in to get it off the shop floor for the winter. It fits fine to...

    TKO 600 ....Anyone done one?

Thanks for the input guys. Todd, I had decided on a TKO 600 because I will be drag racing the car and I wanted the extra strength over the TKO 500. I don't have the car on a hoist right now to check this but if one of you knows whether or not a person could completely remove the factory...

    TKO 600 ....Anyone done one?

Wow, kinda overwhelming. When keisler told me the TKO goes into an A body without cutting the torsion crossmember I didn't realise that their case is modified to do that, not a stock case. Just another fly in the ointment, if this keeps up I might not be driving the Duster till next year! Thanks...

    TKO 600 ....Anyone done one?

Time to get this Mopar project moving again. I am ready to do the Tremec TKO 600 5 speed conversion and would appreciate any advice from someone who has done it. I know Quick time makes the bellhousing and the trans mount needs to be modified but I need details. I spoke to a fellow at Keisler...

    Pinion Yoke

I'm in the middle of moving my office and have a lot to do for the sled show this week but once it's over I could take some measurements and draw the bolt pattern with dimensions on autocad for your machinist. Kev

If aluminum works I could easily make a program and knock a couple of those out on the CNC. Do you think any others do this conversion and might need these? Kev

    Converter stuck in cranksaft!

30 seconds sounds like you didn't take out too much. So long as there is some ATF in the converter to keep things lubed till the pump fills it you'll be OK. BTW a little light grease on the stub won't hurt either, Good luck! Kev

    Pinion Yoke

What does a tone wheel look like, I have a new forged yoke but it would cost a lot to ship back and forth from Canada. Are you machining it yourself? If you're not, maybe I could machine it for you using my yoke for fittment. Just a thought. Kev

    Converter stuck in cranksaft!

BTW if you are going to use a dremel in an ID use the little rubber drum with the sanding hoops instead of a stone, less chance of making divots. Kev

    Converter stuck in cranksaft!

Just my opinion but..... If the crank is ok and the converter is the problem then if you change converters (commonly done for peformance reasons) then all other converters will be sloppy. I would still opt to work the converter instead but it's your parts, hope it works for ya. Kev

    Converter stuck in cranksaft!

You won't be doing any damage to the tranny unless you try to force the converter in without the "dogs" being lined up and thats not your problem but the stub does need enough clearance to slide in and out easily so that it can be pulled to the flexplate. Like wild&crazy said, once the tranny is...

You've had 30 converters that didn't fit into the crank? Wow, I guess I haven't had my hands on enough aftermarket stuff yet. Kev

    Converter stuck in cranksaft!

If the converter goes in but it's snug then I don't think it's a mismatched application. Keep in mind that the converter spins with the crank so it has to be quite a close tolerance to avoid any imbalance but these are both aftermarket parts and even with CNC machines, someones got to keep an...

It is a 340 with some pretty good stuff in it and even though the car was originally an auto (D32 code HD 727 trans) I've been dreaming about slammin those gears ever since I bought this car. Thanks for the info, more food for thought! Sounds like that vortec works well on your 360, is that a...

Ya, I thought it was too. I bought the car off fleabay and didn't even know it came with a trans till I got to pick it up (SCORE!!!) came with everything behind the engine! He didn't know anything about the trans since it came with it when he bought it. I assumed since the car had so many go...

    Tranny doesn't fit, now what

Either way, with everything still left to do on the car in one week, adding a trans rebuild to the project with rush parts shipping and labour, makes the deadline unrealistic. I've already spent a small fortune on UPS overnight shipments from the states in the last 2 weeks, time to take a breath...
