    1932 Plymouth

A buddy of mine had a '32. Had a 273, tunnel, mopar 4 speed with an 8 3/4. Drove it down from Seattle many years back and we all met at Circus Circus in Reno for Hot August Nights. After that he drove on down with us to Berdoo and then went street racing in Hemet. I can't remember what ever...

    I met Cudachick

Actually, you have a '68, mine was a '67, same as the Belvedere I bought when I first got out of the service. Yours had marker lights, mine had none. Wish I still had both of those cars. Russ.

    I met Cudachick

How much trouble do you think we'd get into???? I'll tell one......The first, very first time I saw you, you pulled up next door driving a FORD product. You didn't see me I don't think. But I gotta admit, it was a nice one. A little Maverick or Bobcat or? with a 302 and twin hood scoops...

Anyone have the 1972 Hot Rod Articles showing Mopar 305 build?

When I worked at Keith Blacks around the mid 70's, we were doing billet small block MOPAR cranks for ?Petty? I believe. The billet chunk of steel started off at better than 400 pounds. What they ended up at I never found out, nor did I find out the stroke or any other specs. I was racing small...

Regular Car Reviews: 1966 Plymouth Barracuda

I'd like to know why they threw in the undercarriage of whatever it is (truck?) in the Barracuda video from 6:09 to 6:14? It doesn't even fit the story line, to me anyway. At least it has torsion bars. Looks like an OOPS!! to me. Russ.

    Everyone chime in !

Currently I have a '66 Valiant 100 2 door post. The '66 was the only year early Valiant I haven't owned, love the body style. So that's '63, '64, '65 and '66, plus the Barracudas and Dusters and Darts I've had along with one Belvedere. When I was 15 I bought a '55 Dodge something that had a hemi...

Floor shifters "when I was a kid"

Well, thank you very much chryslerfat. I figured if I went in by joining I could get a job doing what I wanted as opposed to some of the horror stories I heard about Viet Nam. It worked out. Russ.

Floor shifters "when I was a kid"

Yep, and there is that, too. I stayed away from that stuff, most of my friends tried that stuff, and one very good friend got all messed up. That was enough to scare me away from that **** forever. Besides that, I joined the military and didn't get out until 1970. I wasn't going to wait to get...

Floor shifters "when I was a kid"

The "L S D" on the shift ball is the giveaway. It stands for 'Low, Super, Drive". GM used that trans in the early 60's on (I think) Olds and maybe even a Pontiac or two. I'd bet that shifter was aftermarket for a column shift car. Just guessing here. Russ.

Floor shifters "when I was a kid"

Oh Gawd. I had a Mystery Shifter I bought brand new from SBRE around 1966 or so and put it in my '57 Ford. A 1" wrench (I think) is all it took to wing the nut loose on the shifter and you could take it with you when you parked. Memories. Russ.

Aluminum Year of Manufacture plates illegal

Kalifornia don't like YOM plates anyway. I've got the plates off MY '65 Valiant that was T-boned and junked 16 years ago. I've got a letter from the DMV saying the plates were returned to me for re-issue. I went to DMV with all plates in hand, to have my '66 Valiant re-registered with the '65...

Old wrecking yards between Lancaster CA, Bullhead AZ and Las Vegas

I called him and left a message on his phone plus I e-mailed him, so now I'm just waiting. His car never made it to Sweden yet, maybe later this year if he comes back to visit and ship it, which is the plan. He's a hell of a nice guy, kinda quiet, loves the old cars but isn't really a "car"...

Old wrecking yards between Lancaster CA, Bullhead AZ and Las Vegas

65 dartcharger, I have an American friend that lives in Umea, he's from the Los Angeles area and was all over the place around So Cal finding parts for his '67 Mustang rag top. He might know of some places. As a matter of fact, his Mustang is still in California, but he plans on shipping it...

Rust Oleum red oxide for your motor?

When I worked at a machine shop back in the 60's and 70's, my boss always painted the inside of the race blocks and heads with Glyptal. He got it from a friend that owned an electric motor repair shop. The guy painted all the inside of the electric motors with the stuff. We never had a problem...

I can smell the fresh paint

Like pishta said, around here the Pintos are snatched up for short track stock car racing. I built one first for my daughter, then one for my youngest son to race at Orange Show Speedway, Irwindale, Blythe and Havasu. The cars are a blast with the little 2300 motors, and can run with the milder...

1966 Dodge D/Dart ~ 'Mystery, Myth and Misconception'

Alan, Figured it was Covina. You've got me hooked on these cars. I'm wanting to try and reproduce one of those 273's with reproduced D-Dart headers for a '66 Valiant. Back in '66 in high school all I could think of at that time was HEMI. Russ.

    Why the "wedge" designation..

I would like to add one side note. The 1966 and earlier 318 is not a wedge head, it's a poly head. Completely different combustion chamber shape from the wedge head shape. Russ.

Yeakel Plymouth Dragster & Hemi Cuda 1965, Video

I've been under that Champion bridge many times in the 70's in my '63 Valiant. The last time I was there was for the Last Drag Race Riverside had sometime in the 80's when they shut the place down. I was driving my '73 Duster then. God I miss that place. I just got a news release today saying...

    Car guy rite of passage

Just ask Double M. I was his next door neighbor from '96 - '03. :iconbigg: I sure do miss that guy. Were your ears burning this last weekend? I met MuuMuu101 Saturday. I pressed in some KH disc brake wheel studs for him. Him and I went up to Bernies to show him Bernie's Duster. While we...

Factory disk brake cars- rear drums lock-up easily in panic stops??

Does your car have a brake delay valve for the rear drums?. My '66 Valiant had KH discs on the front when I got it, and when I started cleaning up the way the guy had run the rear brake lines, it had this funny looking "junction block" in-line, and I figured it was a hookey way to splice the...

Parents influence on what brand you owned?

Starting as far back as I can remeber, my dad's parents (Grandpa and Grandma) had a beautiful 1948 Packard, straight 8. My mom's folks (Nana and Papa) had a Desoto. Papa was a salesman for Salt Lake City Hardware, and he had the whole state of Nevada as his territory. I remember going with him...
