I assume that you are trying to verify if the car came from the factory with the 340 / 4 speed options? Is the fender tag there? Is the build sheet under the back seat? (ya never know... it could still be there) If the fender tag is there, you can decode it.

Using that logic, Richard Petty also has roots to GM & Pontiac. Like was mentioned in this thread... they are all the same cars. The engines are a bit different though, but not much.

Use either plastic media, or walnut shell media. Both do well without the pitting that using sand can cause.... And it doesn't heat up and warp your sheet metal! Or you could soda blast it.

Yes... the stock OD trans has a .73 final drive. My 4.10 rear in OD turns at just under 3:1 in OD... sure helps on the highway! And goes like a bat out of heck on the street using 1st - 3rd!

Perhaps you have a rear axle from something else? There were no Demon's in 1970. What difference it would make, I don't know... as long as it is a 10" MOPAR brake set up, wouldn't all the brake cylinders be the same? Did yoy measure to see if it is indeed a 10" brake? Perhaps you have some 9"...

The 302 casting heads are usually used on the 318. The 308 casting heads are for the 360. Either one will fit on the block, but the 308's flow better and are more suited for upgrades to your engine down the road. My personnal thoughts are that running the 302 heads on a 360 will limit what...
