I never thought I'd say this, but it's time to sell

All great advice, thanks guys. I am considering making some sort of buyback arrangement, it's definitely one of the reasons that I want to see the car go to someone that lives and breathes Mopars as much as I do. For those that wanted to know, I'll be attending Emory University in Atlanta...

I never thought I'd say this, but it's time to sell

That's what it comes down to, I know it's the right decision for my family. Thanks 4spd, I'm glad that someone else in the same boat. Well, not glad, but you get the idea.

I never thought I'd say this, but it's time to sell

No doubt! That's what is killing me about it now. I'm just trying to think ahead a few years and hoping that I can find something that I'll be as happy with.

I never thought I'd say this, but it's time to sell

Well guys, sometimes I surprise myself. I'm moving across the country for graduate school in the spring and I had planned all along to bring the Barracuda with me. Unfortunately, the more I think about it, the more I realize that I have to do the smart thing and let it go. I'm really bummed...

After 2 long years, 1st start up!!! (Video)

Everything on the engine is new except for the block and rotating assembly. Maybe I'm being overly cautious, but I just don't want to deal with wiped lobe. I'm sure it would be fine though. The cam is the Hughes flat-tappet Whiplash for low deck big blocks. Specs are 0.518" lift with 229*...

After 2 long years, 1st start up!!! (Video)

Thanks guys, I'm very excited to have it back on the road. I took it for a drive up and down the block last night to make sure everything is working properly before heading out on some real roads. So far so good. Also got the timing fine-tuned and the idle mixture set correctly. It's pulling...

After 2 long years, 1st start up!!! (Video)

What started as a simple valve spring replacement turned into a rebuild of the entire top end, and then some! It's taken two very long years, but I finally got everything back together and fired it up for the first time yesterday. Everything went beyond smoothly and I'm very pleased with the...

    DOHC hemi A925

Interesting that you mention this. If you look at the photos on the first page of this thread, it appears that the timing belt would totally interfere with the water pump inlet hose. Not sure that the prototype shown would actually be functional.

    Cool Hemi on local Craigslist

http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/pts/3678947342.html May be an original 1965 race Hemi if I'm reading the ad right. Raced by Sox and Martin? Who knows, but that would be a pretty cool find if it is! Seller's asking 20k for it.

What do you think of this

When I was a kid I spent every weekend at the dragstrip with my dad. He was racing a badass '70 Challenger with a 383 pushing about 600 hp. When I became a freshman in high school back in about 1997 we started looking for my first car. I was only about 14 at the time but my dad planned on...

Let's talk tools! What do you have? What couldn't you live without?

My Fiance just got me this for Christmas and it is awesome! It's a 12 volt, handheld impact driver. I got it to replace my old black and decker handheld power driver, and what a difference! I had no idea the impact mechanism would make such a difference in a driver. It's a great tool, I can't...

    Wow... Just, wow

Sorry to disappoint! I was just stunned at the asking price. I have never seen a slant six-body listed anywhere near $30,000. Not even in mint condition. This guy can waste his money on paint if he wants too and I bet he still won't get more than $9,000

    Wow... Just, wow

I don't know, as this car sits I personally wouldn't pay more than $6,000 simply because that's what I've seen similar cars in this local market listed at. Hell, I bought mine for $9,000 and it was in much better shape than this! You have a point on the interior. On closer inspection the seat...

    Wow... Just, wow

http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/3231820043.html I've been getting a good laugh from this guy on CL for at least a month now. He first listed this at $30,000! Now he says that if no one buys it at this price he'll paint it and do "some other things" and list it again for $25,000 -...

what do you do in a case like this

Had the same problem on my big block Barracuda. I used a rotary tool to sand down the fins on the valve cover. It provided just enough clearance and it fits like a glove now.

    The $30 Engine Flush.

A buddy of mine decided to do some maintenance on one of our humvees in Iraq. He saw that coolant was a little low so he poured in about three liters of water.... into the oil filler neck! We had to tow it to second echelon maintenance for the engine to be swapped. The captain was not happy

.........Can A.J make it a tripple............

I'd just like to make it known that I'll be there to witness it first-hand on Sunday if he does  Weather report says 89 degrees and 0% chance of rain. Quite unusual weather for Seattle. Go Mopar!

    Checking lobe lift

I have an oil pump priming shaft so that could be possible... how much of a mess am I looking at making? Seems like I'd have oil shooting out of the rocker shaft pedastals onto my nice, clean engine compartment? *edit: nevermind, if I did it that way I suppose the valve train would be...

    Checking lobe lift

I just might do that in the end. I've already got the valve covers off and rockers disassembeled in order to change out the valve springs. Was hoping to kill two birds with one stone and check the cam while I have the valve train torn down. I'm just being cheap and lazy and not wanting to buy...

    Checking lobe lift

Unless of course the lifters are malfunctioning and leaking oil, which is possible since I'm getting occasional valve noise. Wish I had the funds to just install a new cam, lifters, pushrods, valve springs and be done with it! Nice. My fiancee and I visited Atlanta a few weeks ago and loved...

    Checking lobe lift

Thanks Rick. I had planned on measuring with the rocker shafts removed and pushrods in place. I was just going to put a socket or something next to the pushrod to stabilize it while while measuring and then set up the DI to take a measurement from the pushrod tip while I turn the crank over by...

    Checking lobe lift

Or just bite the bullet and pull the manifold so I can measure the lobes directly. It would be nice to have the reassurance of having an accurate measurement of lobe lift. My simple valve spring project is snowballing in a hurry!

    Checking lobe lift

Thanks for the quick info. I guess the best way to go about this would be to obtain a used set of valve covers that I can cut a slot in to view the pushrods when the engine is running. Mark the pushrods with a sharpie and look for them to be spinning. If they're spinning the cam should be good...

    Checking lobe lift

Just got a new dial indicator and I'd like to use it to check lobe lift on my cam. I'm not so much concerned about finding the actual lift on each lobe as I am about making sure that they are all consistent and that none of them are excessively worn. The trouble is that I'm running hydraulic...
