American craftsmanship then and what we have now

How can anyone expect a part to last their life time and get what it’s worth when I have to worry about covid, climate change, war, celeb drama cycle every 5 years ? Buy cheap cause that’s what’s in stock and I’ll never see it again. And if it does, I’ll just take it back. No receipt? Over 3...

The best things about 2020 are?

2020 was mostly great to me and my family. I’m an introvert so nothing really changed for me. Housing market rates dropped to historic lows. Bought a house for a 2.25 rate. Sold my current home for crazy price tag. Made a killing on that. Upgraded my family’s lifestyle. Paid off a lot of...

Very last one in the world (I hope) I'll ever have to assemble

That looks to be an alcohol blotting jar. Push down on the top with a rag and a blot of alcohol inside comes out and wets it. Alcohol cleans off solder flux, which is corrosive.

    Tiger king on Netflix?

That show is trash. I fell asleep. All of those inbred cat people should shoot the rest of themselves in the head and do us all a favor.

    Thinking of selling off everything?

hate to tell you this but you had to have transferred your post 9/11 education benefits by now. There are rules for transferring it to kids or spouse. I transferred mine last year to my wife and I had to extend my enlistment to have 4 years retainability and I believe you can’t have over 15 or...

    Thinking of selling off everything?

Have you thought about going back to school? Use chapter 33 post 9/11. Or get a federal job Have you applied for a service connected disability? If so How’s the VA claim going? Or sell enough stuff to move to a better place with more opportunity Is it possible to join the reserves/guard...

    Thinking of selling off everything?

I tried selling my duster when going through hardship and no one wanted it, no one even inquired about it. It was listed for $8500, it runs, drives, no rust, turbocharged. Just needed a new crank, some body work and paint. I decided to make it pretty and change the crank despite having no time...

    Ketchup enhances most things.....

This solely depends on the cut of meat and how it was cooked. A bad steak needs ketchup.

The things people say to sell their car LOL...

I owned a Saturn sl2 for a while. It was a great, cheap car. As for the ad, sounds honest. The oil burn is normal - it’s from coked up rings. And the cat rattle is probably just the heat shield loose. If it starts and drives and I needed a 40 mpg highway car, I’d drive it. Sold mine for $1000 to...

That was before we genetically engineered food on a global scale. Without GMO we wouldn’t be able to feed such high population. We’re at what, 8 billion now?

Cannucky - yeah except solar isn’t a paradigm, it’s been around since the 50’s and hasn’t improved very much in terms of efficiency. The sun is still diluted by our atmosphere, it’s pretty far away, and it’s also only out 1/2 the year. Be lucky I guess. There needs to be a diverse portfolio of...

Self driving car doesn’t have to be electric, youre correct. But at this point in time, Tesla is leading the way. I personally think it will be limited to inner city and highway only. Time will tell Less pollution - yes. It’s because producing power in mass quantity is much more efficient. A...

140 milliseconds must be how fast a relay switches on a battery bus. Yawn. We know electrons move quickly. That article headline is fed to the population to impress them with trivial fact and induce fear of fuel.

There is nothing proprietary about Tesla’s tech. It’s all been invented and produced and implemented decades ago. Thanks to the war effort and space/aircraft. It has just become cheaper for the public. I think the batteries can be recycled at a pretty good rate. Probably a dirty process tho...

Sad part is, you can take a stock hellcat and make it faster and faster by tinkering and tuning. A new electric vehicle is the fastest it will ever be, and only goes downhill from there as the batteries degrade. Oddest part about a high performance electric vehicle like a Tesla is that it is...

Tesla motors has been over-promising and under-delivering for a while tho. Their high popularity is from fear based climate change and constant media hype from environmentalists. Most put down deposits for new cars that won’t be delivered for years. Now they’re wanting full payments for cars...

A few? The goal of every business is market domination. You can’t charge this on 110v effectively. You need a 50 amp 220 outlet. Your solar panel would be dedicated to just charging the car. In attempt to revamp American energy into solar, Musk tried to convince us by saying that we have a...

I’ll believe it when they make an electric, multi passenger aircraft. How America’s electrical grid will handle an all electric pipedream is beyond me. I don’t think the above/below ground wiring will handle it. I hope it succeeds. Imagine calling up a self driving car for your elderly loved...

I’m not a Tesla motors fan by any means, however...I believe the batteries are heated and cooled to maintain optimal temp, even when theyre not loaded. The heater/defrost would be almost instant hot. There isn’t any full-time engine driven accessories like every combustion engine has. Everything...

    Hot Tap Water...Faster

nice! That eemax is pretty slick! Computer controlled and super heats the water as it flows through. Im guessing as the hot water from the big water heater catches up to it, it throttles back the electricity to maintain a constant temp then probably shuts off completely as the big water heater...

    Hot Tap Water...Faster

Maybe some designs are junk compared to others. I've only heard the bad stories so I thought it was inferior design all together and wasted electricity to run it. I'm assuming they use a super heating element in a vacuum insulated tank with some computer control. I just don't know where I would...

    Hot Tap Water...Faster

Damn $100 a month?? That's impressive. My design is just a theory and really just a side thought when I was bored. I also never understood why the water heater and the furnace don't share the same heat exchanger, I suppose because one goes bad before the other and people huck the whole thing out...

I've been in the military for 12 years and maintain turbo-prop engines, I have no care for weed. I thought of this idea after studying aircraft brakes, which use high pressure hydraulics, then deboosted that pressure to actuate the braking piston. Not sure what you mean by "create sediment,"...

    Hot Tap Water...Faster

Yeah those on demand systems waste a lot and take too much maintenance when you have hard water. Plus you need a unit for every faucet. I don't even know if they can keep up with a hot shower. I could take the waste down to a quart instead of a gallon with smaller hot pipes.
