Masonite would be better, but it is very similar to work with. MDF is Medium Density Fiberboard I think. Masonite is much higher density and has more binders in it I think, so the same thickness can be much stronger. But they are both the same thing, a bunch of saw dust pressed and glued together.

Throw a 3/8 and a 1/2 inch wrench in there and you have mine. Thats what I love about these cars, you don't have to have a ton of tools to get in there and fix it. Of course having the right tool can make it a lot quicker and save you some skin on your knuckles.
