    Holleys are pretty simple , id clean the crap out of it and maybe put a new power valve in it-- ( if its been backfiring a bunch thru the carb) A tiny piece of debris in the carb circuit can cause havoc Its worth a try i guess

    have you checked the sock filter inside the fuel tank? Its on the end or the pickup tube . have you checked for vacuum leaks everywhere? after that i would pull the carb apart and spray it with carb cleaner then a lot of compressed air is your carb adjusted properly at this...

    Comp solid lifters and timing chain in my engine. 2 years no problems. I do add comp or hughes lube with every oil change.

    you can set them cold , just figure / adjust "about" .004 or so tighter when cold . The lash will open a little after they warm up. An easy way to do it--start at #1 and bump /turn the motor over until the valve next to it is open then adjust the closed valve. Move to the next valve and...

    find out if the shop has fired it up and broke in the cam !! If so , ask if they changed the oil. and if they are moly rings. If so go out and drive it at highway speeds or so for 5 or 10 minutes then do some stop and go driving. Put at least 20 miles on it . Check over everything ...

    pushrod and eddy head trouble

    Ive got the eddies with custom Manton 3/8 pr and 1.6 Dove rockers. No rubbing--no grinding . We just went thru this with my buddies 440 . I told him which pushrods to buy and he got impatient and ordered some 3/8 that rubbed the head. I told him a few times he's ok with 5/16 ............
