Ok so is there a name for said gaskets? None of the auto places in town know what we are trying to explain to them. Have. This is the third oil filter we tried thinking that may be the problem.

Friend is having problems with his Dart dripping oil. Engine is a rebuilt 340. Oil appears to be dripping from the spot where the oil filter is screwed on and the block? The filter is not dripping Now is there a flat gasket or an O-ring sort of deal that goes in there? He's been told both.

Where is this oil coming from? It builds up in the low spots of the intake manifold such as here for example: Both sides, left and right. Replaced the valve cover gaskets. Replaced the PCV valve in case Im getting blow back, Going to replace the manifold gasket next. Any other ideas what...

I told him he should just pick up a cam, just don't know which one he should pick up though. He has the headers, intake, carb, shift kit, etc. Or will a cam make any difference with stock 318 heads?

Ive got him to agree that just be happy with what simply "bolt ons" can do and leave it at that for now and see how it does. The reason he wants to stay with a 318 is that's what is in the car now so nothing has to change.

Ok since I dont trust this kid with a hammer let alone to do something like that on his heads and without anyone in town that will do it, would it be easier for him to simply buy a better set of heads for his 318 or buy a set where this is already done by someone else?

Its a street car not a drag car. All the cars are just street cars that "race" each other once a month at a nearby private strip. Think of a legal sort of street racing. And I don't take the dart to these races. But I would love to have an 8 3/4 underneath my Dart in the future.

He has an old Weiand 7507 intake on the 318 now I believe, same one as me in fact but I know nothing of the intake and google certainly doesn't help. So he might need to pick up something better. A cam would be pretty easy to find and for about $300 around here for a brand new one. Headers...

He's building a '77 Aspen with a 318 and keeps getting mad because his dad keeps beating him in a '79 Camaro with a 350. :D Oh and he wants 325 horsepower at the wheels.

Having an argument with a friend about getting to about 325hp with a 318 and the easiest vs cheapest way to do it. I told him that there is no real cheap way to go around it and that he's looking at a couple thousand. So what is the cheapest way you know of to get a 318 to approx 325hp?

Well I took it to 3 different mechanics today and none could hear the supposed ticking sound. Took it to my cousin's business and him and the head mechanic thinks they MIGHT hear a ticking and will look into it.

Yes its the 318 and I bet one out of every six 318's Ive listened to had some sort of tick. Anyways do you mean this stuff?

I will also mention that the tick seems to speed up when I have my foot on the gas. When I release the pedal, the tick slows back to normal.

first thing I checked. and I have stock exhaust manifolds (at least thats what it looks like....)

Damn I'm now hearing a ticking noise coming from my engine, driver's side, near the back close to the firewall. It's not there when I start the engine but appears after I start driving it for a couple minutes. I'll try to get audio of it soon.

Ive seen them on motorcycles, Audi's, etc and cars with VERY powerful ignition.
