    dont use fram filters, period. If you go with a lighter oil 5w-30 is a better move according to oil experts i trust. All in all 40-60psi is no big deal tho as others above stated.

    i say his machinist is full of it... old gas made a valve stick, please.... if you bent a pushrod then there is no way the valve was stuck on its own. your timing chain is likely bad (slipped a tooth or 3) or you revved the heck out of it and floated them... get a t-chain, a p-rod, and a valve...

    muriatic acid is also used in pools... the headers have been/will be (i am not done yet) glass bead blasted, so it will be a perfect surface for whatever ends up on them. I have seen the blue vht hold up for 3 years on 300z turbo headers, car got sold then so cant say after that... i havent seen...

    backfires are caused by a timing issues or burnt valves. you have a bad chain or burnt valve as already mentioned. you could have put a chain in it already.....

    318 Issues

    you may have the correct firing order but do you have the #1 wire going to cylinder #1. if it has ever been messed with dont trust that #1 is where it should be on the cap. pull the cap off and put the engine at tdc on the compression stroke and verify the rotor is pointing to number one on the cap.

    and black plugs means its running too rich.... that means you may be ok on the intake vac leak but need to adjust the carb and resolve whatever else is causing it.

    i would be more concerned with the condition of the threads you are bolting into. grade 5, 1/4 bolts are supposed to have a 92,000psi yield strength.

    now, with a big block, blower, nitrous, turbo that can allllll change :) so its not just about having an 11 second car, its how you get it there. as already stated tho, you have a convertible and still need to consider the drivetrain to handle the power levels regardless.

    oversized valve stems

    oversize valve stems are not popular these days, used to be a standard repair decades ago. good luck finding any :) i prefer liners over full bronze guides, mostly because i have seen too many machinists will damage heads putting them in.
