I think I really scewed up during initial start up...

Chief, I think you may be getting a little over cautious on this issue. Nobody said you had to take it off the battery end. I agree that doing everything by the book is the way it should be done, but backyard hobby mechanics use backyard mechanic tactics sometimes. I think everyone on this forum...

I think I really scewed up during initial start up...

Yes you're right, it can be a little risky, I always used an alligator clip so its easily pulled off, at least he would know that it's not fuel or timing related. When you're banging your head against the wall with limited information like this guy, it's comforting to know what you can eliminate...

I think I really scewed up during initial start up...

Thats what i was thinking chief, shouldn't he be able to bypass it all by jumping directly from battery to pos term on the coil or is that only on an old point system. (man am I rusty). Kev

I think I really scewed up during initial start up...

I'm a little confused as I'm sure myasylum is as well . It's been a while since I worked on mopars so I'm wondering why the mention of the 2/4 pin balast resister while also mentioning the 5 pin ECU? . Can someone (wild and crazy since you seem to be knowledgeable on this stuff ) tell me why the...

    Very Lucky Day!!!

It's easy to check the viscous fan, when it's cold it should spin with minimum drag although it will have drag, when the engine overheats it should be quite hard to turn by hand (don't try this while the engine is running LOL). Kev

    Very Lucky Day!!!

Before changing too many parts find a local rad shop to flow test the rad if it's an original. It shouldn't cost too much and could save you a lot of time and grief. Also do you have the proper fan shroud. Is it a clutched fan? Oh ya Demon seed is right, thermostats are cheap, start there. Kev

Help Me I Have An Issue ! Maybe Major

Sorry guys but when the engine won't even crank it's not coils, distributors,or boiling fuel but as several members suggested is definately in the cranking circuit (battery connections, ground cables etc.) The key statement in my opinion is the fact that the battery is not tied down well. Many...

Thanks fishy, I'll call a Chrysler dealer tomorrow, forgot to look at the application listing on the box, maybe he sent me ones for the wrong engine.

Help with oil pan gasket.... Please?

So I thought I was going to finish assembling my 340 till I went to install the oil pan. Nope, wrong gaskets. The engine is a 1968 but it has a deep sump pan, probably Milodon or Moroso and the fel pro gaskets I bought dont fit. The fel pro have several rubber tits to hold the end seals in place...

    Why Am I Overheating!!!!!

Did you change anything with the fan shroud? Standard or clutched fan? Why did you take the rad for pressure test and flush, just for precaution or something else? Definately reinstall the thermostat, the large opening without thermostat will not keep moderate backpressure needed to keep a...
