    New cam...loud clacking lifters. ???

I bet this is your issue, gotta change the valve springs, esp 42 yr old ones when changing camshafts! Hope you get it figured out, I used to run this same cam in my dakota back in the day, and I didn't have any lifter noise. I know that cam is small but I still think that its too big for the...

    Motor swap 360 magnum questions

LA 360 Oil pan will be the only abody pan that will bolt up to the magnum motor. The LA340-LA318 are not compatible due the different sized front or rear clearence for the main journal (dont remember which is smaller). Make sure if you use the LA360 pan you use the LA360 gaskets. All Magnum oil...

    Magnum 360 Swap Questions

Well thanks guys! I knew I could depend on ya'll! My converter is neutral balance because I had bought it for my 318, and the 360 is out of a 98 5.9 Limited Grand so I will just elongate one of the flex plate holes. Will the stock oil pickup out of the 318 work on the Magnum motor? This seems to...

    eddy valve springs???

Long story short, I purchased some valve springs from someone either on here or on Moparts. The valve springs were the stock ones on the eddy 340 heads, he had replaced them for some bigger ones. Well during shipping, the box developed a hole, and now I have 15 valve springs and 12...

Valve Cover Gaskets for Fabbed Aluminum

Yeah, I though of that too, but that chrome circle on the pass side is a breather, so It does have one. It could be leaking at lower rpm's, its just not as noticeable, maybe a PCV is the way to go

Valve Cover Gaskets for Fabbed Aluminum

Now that I've gotten a few miles on the car, I still seem to have a valve cover leak. Thanks to the great new technology of smart phones, I confirmed it! Question is now, whats a good gasket to use on these valve covers that seal well? I going to tighten them up a bit more to see if it remedys...

    Half sized oil filter???

Just an Update, the Fram PH3512 is perfect!! Hot Rod magazine recommended this filter when doing a new hemi swap into an older Mopar. I myself have always used Fram filters, and Valvoline Oil. Never had an issue with oiling problems in any of the regular or hot rod cars I've ever had. I got 60...

SUCCESS! Broken Dipstick Tube Removal Write up

So, I posted a help thread the other day when I found out my dipstick tube was cracked. Needless to say, I tried to remove it and it snapped like I had figured. Well I've done this once before in my old 318, and I used the same method I did that time, with successful results. So I figured I...

aww crud! Help! Oil spraying out of dipstick

Well I think your absolutely right! And I've had to do this once before on a 318 I had in my Dakota. I may have got lucky, but I was able to find a bolt that was just big enough to thread in about 3/4 of a inch. Then from underneath with a screw driver on the head of the bolt I tapped it right...

aww crud! Help! Oil spraying out of dipstick

So I got everything buttoned up on my 73, trying to get her ready to make a trip to the exhaust shop. So I took her for her newest maiden voyage after the cleanup/header project. After once around the block I get her back in my driveway and see Oil spraying out from where the dipstick tube...

Not in an A-body but I got a few 5.9l questions

roller rockers on those magnum motors really wake them up, then of course headers exhaust, a converter (2800) and maybe looking into a M1 intake manifold is where i would start. will prob get you into the 14's with tires is my guess

    Half sized oil filter???

well i have one on the 340 for the 74, but i want to keep it on that motor. I also don't want to go through the trouble of putting the adapter on and pipes still hitting or being too close. I know that If i get the half sized one all will 100% work, I will go there however if I have to lol I do...

    Half sized oil filter???

Does anyone know if they make a half sized or smaller than the normal filter for a small block?? I have all my exhaust finally mocked up and to make it work all I need is a little shorter filter. I remember someone saying there is one, would anyone have the part number for this?

5.2/5.9 Magnum Swap, Who's dun 'em?

I'm not gonna say the stock EFI sucks, it just depends on your plan on the motor. If your wanting a stock fairly quick Magnum setup, and you can get the harness and ecu as a cheap package deal, i'd go for it. Remember those magnum engines put out way more than the old style small headed LA...

    Freeze Plug Sludge

I have noticed a freeze plug leaking after I put the motor back in my 73. So today I went out and plucked it out and noticed a diecent amount of rusty deposits and some sludge behind the freeze plug. I was able to pull some of it out with my finger, and its a little alarming. This motor has run...

Dip Stick Tube Snapped Off - Arrrrgh

if you have the oil pan off you should be able to tap it out the opposite way from underneith with a hammer. Last time it happened to me I was able to get a corse thread bolt about the same diameter to thread in, and then I tapped it out with a hammer and screwdriver using the head of the bolt...

    well, motors back in...

man didn't think of that! my problem is actually having to deal with the idler arm clearance, one header tube is directly in the way, but doing that may give me some room that I desperately need! Thanks for the tip!
