    Pre-'70 (SB) Hi-Volume Water Pump

If the FlowKooler pump is aluminum you can run that. I had one and it worked fine......but it was all hype. A stock 8-blade pump works just as good if not better and is a LOT cheaper.

    water pump

Put a 180* thermostat in it.....a 160 will not let the car warm up properly and can cause higher temps cause it will open and never close and not allow the radiator to fully do it's job.

Viscous Fan VS 7 Blade Fan

I only run one of those universal shrouds....I only have that on there so the top of the fan blades are covered for safety.

Viscous Fan VS 7 Blade Fan

Get the Viscious fan.....I was going through similar problems. My car would heat up in traffic and then take a while to cool down even on the highway. I had an aluminum radiator, 180* T-stat and a Napa water pump. I was running two electric fans.....it would get up to 210 or higher in...

    Jegs Aluminum Radiators

I have one in my Duster......very nice rads. IIRC Griffen makes them for Jegs. It was 95* with 80+% humidty yesterday and with my viscious fan my car never got over 200* sitting in traffic waiting for an accident to clear.

    Hot 318

What thermostat are you running too? You should be running a 180 or 195 temp T-stat. A 160 will have you over heating as well because it will never close and not allow the coolant to dump enough heat while in the radiator thus not letting the radiator actually do it's job. The viscious fan...

    Hot 318

NP...I was editing my reply as well....:D Yeah that section can be confusing...as far as I'm concerned the better cooling is more of a priority than the 5hp loss that you might get from the 8-blade WP vs the 6-blade. I was/am still haveing some cooling issues with my 318. I just installed a...

    Hot 318

I can't remember exactly where...I might have mis-understood it as well since I was having some cooling issues and was cruising through that section for some ideas. I could have swore it said the AC pumps were'nt a good as the non-AC pumps. I'll look over the weekend and see if I can find it...

    Hot 318

It states in the MP A engine book to stay away from the A/C pumps...you are supposed to use and 8-blade HD pump for a non-A/C car for extra flow.

    What's too hot?

I think my bypass hose is giving me false readings to my temp gauge.

    What's too hot?

Your fine....mine got up to 230* the other day cause my thermostat stuck on me on the way home....I was waiting for it to boil over but it never did.

    Stock vs Underdrive Pulleys

Luckily I run on pump premium 93 so it isn't that bad....still it's bad. I laughed the other day that Diesel has finally stayed steady and is finally cheaper than gas...the way it should be.....then I realized that I still had to put gas in the wife's Durango....I gotta get her a diesel Liberty...

    Stock vs Underdrive Pulleys

Well I changed the WP out to a HD 8-blade unit and I built a fan shroud. Once I get some money to fill the tank back up with fuel I'll take it for a test drive:

    Stock vs Underdrive Pulleys

On a side note......I have always had this problem even with the clutch fan and copper/brass radiator.....the only thing constant has been the water pump and pulley combo. The temps have been the in the same range....hmmm I think it is a flow problem. This electric fan will hold a T-shirt to the...

    Stock vs Underdrive Pulleys

I'll try that Chuck. I'm really beginning to think it's a combonation of both air flow and pump speed. The FlowKooler is supposed to be a high output pump....but I'm not sold on it.

    Stock vs Underdrive Pulleys

Permacool electric.....it's 1/2" from the radiator It definetly levels off....doesn't climb up anymore. Never sat at a light long enough for it to make a difference. I don't HAVE to keep the march pulleys.....I have been looking at the Flex-a-lite balck magic fans that have the built in...

    Stock vs Underdrive Pulleys

I am running a set of March Underdrive Pulleys on my car right now. I have been experiencing warmer than I'd like to see water temps when sitting in traffic it was about 75 out the other day and I got up to 200* nothing really higher that that but it's a little warmer than I'd like to see. I...

    Universal Radiator Installation

That's exactly what I did with my Jeg's Universal Radiator.....I used 1/8" aluminum and bent it myself and bolted it in. Even made my own electric fan brackets:

Heater box, core, fan and control removal

Well here is what I came up with over the weekend to block off the heater controls:

Heater box, core, fan and control removal

Well I got the heater box and stuff out last night......only took me 30min. I didn't even pull the front seat. I took the fan nuts off and took that little plate over the heater core tubes off and gave it a little push and the thing fell out on the floor. I think somewhere along the cars life...

Heater box, core, fan and control removal

Thanks PastorTom.......I have some Percocet left from when I broke my arm so that is covered. I think I might pull the front seat out to help with laying down then.

Heater box, core, fan and control removal

Do any of you guys know if the heater box, core, fan and controls can all be removed from my Duster without pulling the dash out? I don't have the heater core plumbed in any more so why carry around the extra 40 pds or so.

    aluminum radiator

I almost bought one from that guy but the Jeg's one came up and I got it for $50. It was brand new. As I understand the Jeg's radiators are all welded also. It will be hard to find a better deal on an aluminum radiator than from the link posted above....unless you find another on Ebay and I'd...

    aluminum radiator

Empty it can't weigh more than 10lbs.....there is a "ledge" on the core support that the radiator is sitting on. The aluminum brackets are just holding it against the core support.

    aluminum radiator

The radiator was cake.....maybe a couple of hours total and that's with making the brackets and painting them. Here is about the only pic I have right now of the radiator and fan. I even made my own fan mounts. At the top of the radiator you can see that mount and there are two on the bottom...

    aluminum radiator

I have a Jeg's unit in my car and it's great. You'll have to have a seperate trans cooler which is better anyway. You'll also need to rig up your own mounts which is fairly simple. I made mine from 2" wide aluminum flat bar that I got from a local farm store. Just cut and bent 90* pieces to...
