Slant Six vs. Small block ignition questions

Awesome! I was pretty sure the coil and ballast were the same, wasn't sure about the box. I've got some V8 stuff here so all I need is the wiring harness and I'm good to go (already have a /6 electronic distributor too). I was about to spend some money on the parts, but now I can just use the...

Slant Six vs. Small block ignition questions

I want to convert the slant 6 in my van to electronic Ignition. Can I use a V8 igntion module box? What about a coil, can I use a V8 coil and ballast resistor? Are they the same thing?

    Real Time Engineering voltage limiter.

Do second gen a-body cars with a rallye dash have an IVR located somewhere other than behind the instruments?

    LED bulbs

I've read that a 194 is 2 candlepower and a 168 is 3 candlepower, but I have no idea which ones I have in my cluster, but I do know it's rather dim and I'll be checking it!

    ignition kill switch

True eh? Apparently if they really want it they'll get it. Locks just keep honest people honest.

    ignition kill switch

"only move a few feet" Just enough to get it onto a flatbed and to Montreal and onto a container headed for Japan! No thanks. A few feet is TOO far for me. A satellite locating device hidden up under the frame or somewhere is the best thing, otherwise a kill switch like you guys are...

    Electronic Voltage Regulator

I have a spare one that is in a plastic housing, it was cheaper. The metal housed ones are identical to the old mechanical ones, except for the guts. In fact, I once ordered one through Napa and got a mechanical one, then an electronic one, both ordered with the same part number!

    Electronic Voltage Regulator

Yes, the ebay price is reasonable. I think I paid $30 for mine, but it was NEW with a sticker on it. That one lacks the sticker, so it might be used? Looks pretty new though.

    Electronic Voltage Regulator

Yeah, they're excellent. Buy one. You can get them all over the place. They cured a lot of my electrical woes like dimming lights and stuff.

    engine noise in radio

Just had this discussion elsewhere, too funny. There's some photos of the noise suppression thing here http://www.earlyabodyforum.com/board/messages/2/1967.html

    FBO ignition syste

Yeah, I contacted Don via email and he said I need to run the ballast resistor supplied. It's an MSD made resistor, rated at 0.08 ohms and physically much larger than my stock one. I had to put it vertically on my firewall instead of horizontally to make it fit! I've got the whole shebang...

    FBO ignition syste

Do I really need to switch to the FBO supplied ballast resistor, or is my stock ballast resistor okay? Also, what is the canister attached to and beside the coil, a condensor? Should I remove this with the FBO system?

    FBO ignition syste

FBO comes recommended by a few people over on the Early A-Body Forum (www.earlyabodyforum.com). I just bought a setup from him too for my '65 Barracuda. I just got it yesterday, but it didn't include the wiring. He forgot to mention to me that it was extra and didn't ask me if I needed it...

Pertronix Ignitor to replace points or go full electronic

I put one in my 273 in my '65 Barracuda almost 2 years ago. It's been working flawlessly since. The only problem is, if something were to go wrong you can't get parts off the shelf, whereas a Mopar ignition system you can get parts anywhere...that's what all the people say, but I haven't have...

    Timing tab help

You should be able to remove the lower rad hose and that will make it visible. Of course, this means you will have to drain the system and run your car with no coolant while timing it.
