I think to test the speedo find an allen wrench put in a drill and plug it into the speedo where the cable goes and spin it. But put some grease in the hole there is a bearing in it. If it works connect a drill to cable and see what happens.

I have a 72 340 with the ECU mounted on the factory drivers inner fender. My problem is the wax that seals the electronics is oozing out from under the unit. But it still works fine. Is the Ecu going bad? Should I replace it? Any help would be helpful. Thanks!
