    Just got my X pipe

X-pipe made a significant power increase on my car with both the 318 and 408.

    "H-pipe," X-pipe," or no pipe?

Yes, the Duster with the 408 about 7 years ago. Several parts have changed since then (fuel system, ignition, torque converter....), but the homemade exhaust is the same. Time slips are long gone, but I remember the testing on a Friday night at the 1/8 mile track. It ran 8.15 open, 8.04 with the...

    "H-pipe," X-pipe," or no pipe?

I've battle tested open headers, x-pipe open and x-pipe with mufflers. X-pipe with Flow 30s ran the same ET as open X, and both were quicker than open headers. I have also seen other guys get a significant power increase from those extension pipes, but I've never tried them.

    Header evac with mufflers

I believe we are running a little wider ring gap for nitrous use. I don't really think it has much pressure, it has 4 valve cover breathers now.

    Header evac with mufflers

That's kind of what the valves that screw onto the piece that goes into the exhaust are aren't they?

    Header evac with mufflers

I was trying to figure out how to do it like #2 in that drawing. Looks to me like it'd pull better vacuum. I also should make a baffle for my valve covers. Naturally mopar has some that'll screw in, but they weren't kind enough to give them with the valve covers when I purchased them 15 years ago.

    Header evac with mufflers

The hoses would be 7 feet long if I ran them behind the mufflers. Probably defeat the purpose.

Question for those who like Flowmasters...

I had Super 44s on my old 318 truck. Manifolds to 2.5" H-pipe to two 44s and 3 inch tips. Was pretty quiet but had a nice sound. With headers I think it'd be perfect.

    Header evac with mufflers

Well I guess I can give it a shot. If it causes much back pressure it'll blow oil out the standard breathers.

408 tested with 8 different Flowmasters

I've run the same 3" Flow 30s with an x pipe for 10 years. It's pretty loud, but also a race car. Had Super 44s on my old 318 truck. They were quiet and had no drone. FWIW, I run quicker times with the mufflers compared to open pipes (tested the same day, same track, runs 15 minutes apart)...

    Header evac with mufflers

I run the headers into an x-pipe then the mufflers. Would that be too far back to make a difference?

    Header evac with mufflers

I bought a crankcase evacuation system that welds up to headers a few years ago, and never got around to putting it on because my mopar valve covers didn't have the right hole. Now I'm feeling less lazy, and will drill the hole I need for the breathers. I've read, however, that running the evac...
