Changed the exhaust on my car for a complte TTI

What engine is it? Usually short tube headers deliver power in high rpm while long tube are better for low and mid range.

    Header dumping position

Alright, thanks for the help, was hoping there was a standard position for long tube headers to end.. At least after this final job the header headache will be over.

    Header dumping position

Sorry should have mentioned that, its a 1969 dart coupe, 360 LA with stock j heads, torqueflite 727, power steering power breaks, have a mini starter to put in, stock torsion bars, external oil filter with a home made h pipe exhaust which worked with the flowtechs.

    Header dumping position

Hey guys. I have ordered a set of Doug's headers to replace the horrible flowtechs that came on my dart, both of these headers are long tube. What I'm wondering is if I will need to modify the rest of the exhaust or are there standard dumping positions where all headers end?

    76 dart 318 header suggestions

Well if you do go with headers doug`s seem to fit a little better than tti`s. The tti headers have bigger tubes, are staggered and are suited to higher hp builds like over 400 I think. Thats just from all the reading I have done. I ordered dougs and am waiting to install.

    TTIs & Quick Time Bell

Since this thread is already brought back does anyone know if you need a mini starter with a torqeflite 727? Do Dougs need a mini starter too?

    Header seating..

Cant remember what they are called but you can get some expensive extra thick gaskets from summit that apparently can solve leaks.

    Can you buy one header?

Spent even more time on remaking the left header, wish I realised this earlier but I gave up again, its way too hard.. Decided to bite the bullet and save up for dougs or tti`s over winter. However people seem to have problems with fitting the left header because of the starter. I attached...

    Can you buy one header?

Really? I read that short ones generally give less power especially mid and high range and cause heigher engine bay temps. Have you got a set?

    Can you buy one header?

Thanks! But I changed my mind about getting short ones, did some reading and it seems they arent much better than stock manifolds. Gonna work some more on the other header, but might have to resort to these.

    Can you buy one header?

Thanks for the help, unfortunately while im 19 and studying buying a full set of dougs or tti`s isnt an option, since one side is already done it looks like im off to the garage again :)

    Can you buy one header?

My 69 dart came with flowtech headers, after endless road scraping and exhaust leaks I decided to rebuild them. Right side is finished with great clearence but I have now learned that the engine has to be lifted for the left side, this made me lose all motivation. So back to the question...
