Steering gear box for 75 duster /6

Just get on Rock Auto web site, and look up the steering box for your car. Chances are they will not have a rebuilt or new box in-stock, but will offer the rebuilding service through Lares Corp. You purchase the service, and they email the shipping label to you, and you send your box direct to...

Steering gear box for 75 duster /6

I sent mine for rebuild through Rock auto. The company they use did an excellent job. I believe the company is Lars, and it's cheaper to go through Rock auto than with them direct. Quick turn around and I think it was around $200. Had my power steering pump done too, very satisfied.

    Problems after suspension rebuild

Marking them was what I was going to do. The only thing I didn't replace was the tie rod ends, so I went ahead and ordered them and new sleeves. I don't know what spec. They used for the alignment, but the car drove straight and didn't pull, but I did think $200 was excessive. I wish I knew of a...

    Problems after suspension rebuild

Thanks, I'll try that. Even though the shop that did the alignment charged me $200, I will have it redone. Hope the LCA bushings are OK.I appreciate your reply.

    Problems after suspension rebuild

I guess I'll try it and see. If it doesn't correct it I will tear it apart and check for a torn bushing. I did rebuild the driveshaft and installed new spider gears in the differential, but the problem occurred before and after that work. Do I have the process that I outlined in my original post...

    Problems after suspension rebuild

I recently replaced upper A arm bushings, lower control bushings, upper and lower ball joints, and strut rod bushings. I had the car aligned at a shop, and now I have vibration at highway speed, and creaking noise when hitting bumps. I suspect the lower control arm and upper A arms were...

    Popping noise after suspension rebuild

Have it sorted out. Loosened up the lower control arm and strut rod, moved the car up and down, torqued everything . The nut on the control arm holding the strut rod took more torque than I had it, anyone working great, no noise. Thanks for the help.

    Popping noise after suspension rebuild

He did spend 2 1/2 hours on it, and did some additional things.

    Popping noise after suspension rebuild

Thanks Rusty, didn't want to ruin a $250 alignment. I thought that was high, but it is hard to find anyone that wants to work on these old mopars.

    Popping noise after suspension rebuild

I just finished replacing the upper a arm bushings, lower control arm bushings, upper and lower ball joints and strut rod bushings. After having an alignment done, there is some popping in the suspension at times. I think it is coming from the strut rods. When I reassembled I tightened the lower...

    Upper a arm bushings

No corner carving for me in the barracuda. I have a hayabusa and a Miata for those urges. Going to go without them . Thanks for the reply's.

    Upper a arm bushings

Yes that is the ring I have on my old bushing. I can't see where it would do anything to stop the bushing from moving. The old ones are so pitted and rusty I would never be able to remove them to use on the new bushings. Have any of you installed new a arm bushings without the sleeve and had no...

    Upper a arm bushings

Just rebuilt upper a arms on my 66 barracuda. I noticed a collar on the old rear bushing after I pressed in the new bushing. The new bushings did not have a collar. Is it necessary to have this collar, and where would you get one if needed.

    Lower control arm bushing

I took the advice of you members, and just replaced all the bushings and ball joints in addition to the strut rod bushings. Cleaned and painted everything, now I'm ready to install. The car had extensive undercoat applied when new, so I knocked off the surface rust and printed the area behind...

    Lower control arm bushing

They beat it up pretty bad, but I think I can clean it up with a die grinder. It is 1 1/2" diameter, and I saw a post on removing the outer shell with a 1 3/8" tap, but a tap would drop right in. That's what is confusing me. Sure would like to see a picture of a lower control arm with the whole...

    Lower control arm bushing

That is what I was thinking, but before I try to remove it, it looks to be the inside diameter for the new bushing. The shop beat the crap out of it and they are not open today for me to ask if they just removed the rubber or if the outer shell came out too.the other side looks like there are...

    Lower control arm bushing

I took my lower control arm to a shop for the bushing removal since I do not have a press. Is this the outer shell of the bushing still in the control arm, and needs to be removed, or does the new bushing press into this sleeve?

Strut rod bushing on a 66 A body

So you used the Moog K7040?

Strut rod bushing on a 66 A body

I bought Moog K7040 bushing kit as listed for my barracuda from rock auto. The Kit contained 4 bushings, 4 large washers and two small pins. The washers are quite a bit larger than the ones on the car, and I don't think the rear one will fit. I also don't see anywhere the pins would apply...

    Steering Coupler Rebuild "How To"

Glad to help. Don't know about the ones from classic or summit, but I know others are available that are specific to your application so you can use the proper coupler. Perhaps others will chime in with the name of the company, might be steer and gear .

    Steering Coupler Rebuild "How To"

The steering shaft hole is for the pin that holds the shoes in coupler. Sounds like power steering to manual conversion was make on your car. There are companies that offer an extension for the shaft to steering gear.
