    Power Brake Hell..... HELP!!!

The pedal height issue would probably be in the booster linkage or in the master pushrod length. Spongy pedal is 99% of the time air in the lines. as noted in a previous post master cylinder bore diameter will effect pedal pressure so you could have got the wrong size. I also think rear...

    ***7.25 brakes on 8.75 rear-end?*** "SOLVED"

I did it, went from 7 1/4 BBP to a 8 3/4 that was SBP but I got moser axles for BBP. I ended up not having to modify anything but, others have had to deal with the other stud or hole, which really isn't a big deal. I would think it should swap rite over.

I made my own manual brake pushrod - what do you guys think?

    brake pedal too high

FWIW, I don't remember if the donor vehicle had a high pedal. The guy was a mopar guy so for all I know he converted it and used the wrong pushrod. Brewers has the lengths listed for the ones they sell. http://www.brewersperformance.com/products.asp?cat=279 I cut and welded mine to 6...

    Rear Brake Dilemma

FWIW, I bought a set of new drums for my 10 inch brakes and they rubbed the backing plates. I figured it was just poor quality control. I ground the lip on my backing plate down a bit.

    brake pedal too high

the 76 duster had manual brakes and a 4 speed. So I have the manual rod and pedals. no idea why it sits higher though. I might be able to cut the end off then grind it round instead of doing any welding. I'm just wondering what the o ring on the rod is for.

    brake pedal too high

car is a 73 dart swinger that was orginally power disc and auto trans but converted to manual disk and 4 speed using parts from a 76 duster. The brakes are all bled out and feel good just the pedal is high. Its about an inch higher than the clutch pedal. The rod measures 6 1/4 inches from the...

I need to install brake lines, MC, and prop. valve. Help!

I bought a set of brake lines from inline tube. I had to mess with one spot a bit. other than that they were okay. Later on down the road i learned how to bend my own brake lines and flare the ends. Honestly If I had known it was so easy I would have never bought pre bent lines. I think...

    74 Scamp pain

It's an old car, things may have been changed. Bigger rear drums came on many of the bigger mopars. Just did a rockauto search and a 74 dodge monaco came with 11" X 2-1/2" rear brakes, Outside Diameter 13.62" RAYBESTOS Part # 2953R Hope this helps.

    Possible brake upgrade.

So what prop valve and master do they use on the other kits out there?

    Possible brake upgrade.

So, there will be no befits to going with a 4 piston setup for a street car?:-k The calipers just looked like nice pieces and they are off of something that isn't anything exotic. I wasn't all that worried about making a bracket. I guess the consensus here is don't bother?

    Possible brake upgrade.

I was at the shop the other day and saw a 94 4runner. To my amazement it had a 4 piston caliper! My first reaction was, those would rock on the dart. Anyway i did a bit of research and it looks possible. The 4 runner rotor diameter is 11.75 If I'm not mistaken you can swap bigger rotors from...

confused.. yes i say that a lot

I had this happen to me. I went from a 7 1/4 rear to a 8 3/4 that was SBP but I bought moser axles with green bearings for it. Put the 7 1/4 brakes on the 8 3/4. The drum hit the backing plate but, only on the outermost lip. I guess the axles were a tiny bit shorter? Since mine only hit that...

    Wtf!

Well i looked at it today a bit. first i found out that one of my caliper hold down metal things snapped a bit. But a friend that has been working on these things for year said thats not uncommon and likely not my issue. I then had the rubber line off at the caliper to inspect it a bit...

    Wtf!

my brakes were working fine for 1000-2000 miles then the other day a light changed and I needed to stop pretty fast. got on the brakes and the drivers side front tire locked up and pulled hard left. took it easy the rest of the way home. It seems like sometimes it stops great and other times it...

    Pedal to the floor

I had the same problem and it ended up being the push rod length. I ended up jacking the front up so both tires were off the ground, then I adjusted the rod until the brakes dragged slightly and backed off a bit until they did not drag. Mine work great now. my rod was wayyyy off.

    weird noise?

Brand new booster, new hose to the booster. I honestly dont think it sounds like a vacuum leak, the idle does not change either when this happens.

    weird noise?

When i push the brake pedal fast it sometimes makes a weird noise. I can feel it a bit in the pedal too. Its not a noise like something is loose. Its like a lower brrummpp kind of noise. Other than that I have my brakes working great.

need some help before i drive this car off a cliff.

Since I hate finding threads with major issues and not hearing a resolution, this is why i am resurrecting this. I bought everything new for the brakes. you name it I had it. The pedal basicaly would do nothing until right above the floor. Brakes dident pull or anything and it stopped decent...

    Stuff in brake fluid?

my brake fluid looks dark and its got black crap floating in it. this is only in the front brake reservoir (the big one) Obviously this is an issue. But what is the issue do you think? Heres the "history" of the brakes. 7? years ago my dad rebuilt one side of the suspension and put a new...

    Brakes 7 1/4 -8 3/4

I swapped my 7 1/4 brakes rite over to the 8 3/4. For some reason my 7 1/4 had 5 holes and studs and not 4. anyway you should be able to just drill the 5th hole. Are the 7 1/4 and 8 3/4 both A body length? I *think* the a body backing plates might step down while non a bodies dont. just keep...
