    Brake boil over

Just to clarify, my DrDiff master has been on a couple years now. Noticed very small seepage from the forward cap after driving Friday. Just picked up the 42044 and 42081. Surprisingly to me, stronger material caps, thicker gaskets, snugger fit. I’m sold.

    Brake boil over

Wondering… It appears that Mopar discontinued the black caps in favor of the yellow ones. Are the yellow ones made of a stronger plastic, less prone to flex?

    Brake boil over

Replacing the gaskets makes sense. But the caps look identical to the ones that are already on the master. Wondering why the need to replace the caps too?

    smelled burning, saw smoke

Circa 1973/1974 I'd picked up a double black '59 Edsel Corsari for a couple hundred as a joke to drive around. Actually wasn't a bad car. 332, manual everything. Drove it up to Union Grove WI with a couple buddies for a big NHRA event to see Big Daddy run of course. Parking was in the field on...

    leaking master cylinder cap.

I think the ‘74 master is a little longer. If so this particular gasket would be different. If you look up the Bendix casting number for your master you’ll be able to match up the correct gasket.

    Stop That Rusty Look

I used to wipe the outside with WD-40. Did the trick. Nice on cast valve covers too.

    leaking master cylinder cap.

Interesting. Curious: Why would the yellow caps be better or different than the black caps? Seems like the black caps were OEM on older Mopars and the yellow ones on the newer. Other than the color, how would the construction or gasket be different?

    leaking master cylinder cap.

Saw those yellow caps (Mopar Part 04683656AB). Why are they so expensive compared to the black caps?

Just wondering, what is the reason for pointing the vent toward the rear?

    leaking master cylinder cap.

I've found that for the cast iron OEM masters, the gaskets that are available are thinner and of a more 'plastic'-y material. When I was still running the OEM master on my '70 Dart I found this one from IH is just like the factory 'originals' in thickness and composition: Disc/Drum Brake Master...

    which master cylinder?

This is a good thread too: upgrade master brake cylinder To my knowledge, there are no exact rebuilt replacements available and there is no kit available (The one from Dorman is for drum/drum). The later '73 on up style iron 15/16" bore ones will work fine however they are larger in size. The...

1973+ Manual Disc Brake Line Pics

Thanks. I believe the '70-'72 master cylinder lines have a forward lean as in the pics above and the '73 on up lines come up more to the rear of the master. I'd like to see pics of those from the driver side and from the front.

Has anyone with a factory '70 A body manual disc car installed the MC5621 and if so how much more pedal effort in your opinion? Also does anyone who replaced their manual disc master with the DoctorDiff have some pics of the finished install?

    upgrade master brake cylinder

I like DoctorDiff's 15/16" master but I do like the look of an the original Bendix too. This one that's been available for a bit, the MBM MC5621 http://mbmbrakes.com/mc5621-1960-1970-mopar-master-cylinder/, looks great but the bore is 1.125". Will this make a big difference re pedal feel on...

    upgrade master brake cylinder

The MC36406 looks just like this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/233424925277?ul_noapp=true This is bigger (longer and wider) than the stock Bendix front disc manual master. You're saying it's a direct fit replacement?
