Agree, it looks good. I’m thinking the lock is somehow not disengaging. I’ve had that before with a Mustang. I’d have to move the lock knob up and down several times then it would release and voila, the door would open.

Try heat, get lube in and physically reach in and move the levers. I'm guessing you have triple checked the lock has actually released. Keep working it and let the lube work in, BE Patient.

Seems like you're willing to use a broken one. Don't try to mend it on a bench. Mend it as you install it. Once installed there is no stress on the repair. If you repair it on a bench, you may break it while installing it. Clear silicone on the backside may be your answer.

Two questions; I can see a very fine dusting of grey primer overspray that somehow got into interior and landed on my black dash pad. What do I use to remove that without hurting the dash? I also have some paint overspray on the side marker/reflectors. What would I use to remove that?

Mine is Deep Burnt Orange 1970 colour code K5. I prefer the deeper colours. My avatar photo shows it in sunlight.

If the key turns then I would look at the adjustment. Rather than banging on the trunk lid try putting your weight down on it then turning the key, if it opens then the adjustment is too tight.

Hmm I saw the 68 ones, but not the 69. Anyway, the holes will not line up with the fish you remove but you can still cover the old holes with the emblem. The studs could be crushed but that requires proper tools. A silicone/epoxy will hold it in place.
