I was just looking in the garage for some bits that will be just a smidge smaller than the studs, so that there's less plastic to bite away for the threads. Trying to transfer photos, but they won't send...gyah. Going to try opening the hole some and will stay optimistic... ... :)

Well, ****...I'm already committed trying to go with the studs that have the lip lol I really do appreciate the recommendation, but getting these things to work since I've already bought them would be optimal.

It would be a very coarse threaded helicoil (I got a pack like these 1970 Dart Swinger 340 Hood Scoop Mounting Stud Kit New MoPar) I'd prefer to not go buy a helicoil for it, but I do suppose that would be a good option if I cant figure something else out :)

Alright, I'm not sure why it's not working, but the self tapping studs arent tapping, they're just eating the channels that they're supposed to sit in. I have two scoops for my 70 Dart hood and was missing 8 studs between the two scoops. I got a bag of extra studs and need to toss them in, but...

dengit...just got back from a trip and went out to look at the glass. Rear weatherstripping is completely different from the front, and the front, though slightly different than the pics above, still has that slit. I will fiddle fart with getting the lock strip into the front stripping, but...

I used softseal on my 70 swinger and wow it's nice. Just the right thickness to keep it quiet and awesome.

I will try the lock strip first, since it doesn't involve adding sealant or removing the glass hahah Just to confirm, though (and assuming this were model correct) it would go in the same groove as the one that the lip tucks into as seen in the photo?

Hmm...sorry if I am making you repeat yourself, but the lock strip goes in the gap that ties in with the gap pictured, but it runs from each end of the bottom, up the sides and to the other bottom end - thus not going into the spot where the lip is tucked in?

I should also add that I'm at just about the same spot as the picture above. New clips are in, I can see that bit of metal underneath the weatherstripping, but don't want to go any further if I end up needing to back track. If a sealant is necessary under the trim, what sealant is recommended...

Thanks for the input. He didn't use any sealant to install the weatherstripping, and since I asked him to not toss on the trim because I want to polish it up, he didn't use any sealant for where the trim goes, either. He did mention that he could plug in the sealant for me, but it would make...

I have been trying to find tips on how to restore my vent window trim, but have had no luck. These guys are chromed, correct? Is my best bet to pull the trim, remove the glass, bring them back down to metal and redip? It's currently pitted due to bits of rust.
