    2017 318 RACE !! .... please join the fun

In my case I swapped a A500 in place of a 904. I even had the A500 converted to non-lockup so I could reuse my 904 converter. In my case the only change to the car was the transmission itself. All the details are in this thread: performance 904 vs. A500 (42RH)

    2017 318 RACE !! .... please join the fun

You might want to know that an A500 is .3 - .4 seconds and 3-4 MPH slower then a 904. The deeper first gear does not makeup for all the internal drag inside the A500. Ask me how I know....

    Online Horsepower Calculators

I am pretty sure the Wallace calculator is all based off data he collected for Pontiac race car. If you race a Pontiac with a similar drive train and similar hp/weight ratios that the data is based on, then the results are close. You plug in data for a flyweight Fox, it all falls apart...

    340 performance?

3.21 to 4.10 = .25 seconds in the 1/8, might be a bit more in the 1/4. A "good" torque converter could easily give .5 second in the 1/8.

The Mustang is probably under 2700 lbs with driver. The choice of after market heads for SBF is much better then SBM.

    First time out Results

"If they are SS spring, the Right rear fender should be higher then the Left rear." Depends on how you crank the torsion bars. You can get a car with SS springs to sit level if you are willing to adjust the torsion bars accordingly.

    First time out Results

Total timing = initial timing (18 ) + Mechanical advance (18 ) = 36 The lighter springs means the engine reaches total advance at a lower RPM. I bet the red bushing gives more mechanical advance so you are probably getting more total advance then you think. What is the pinion angle...

14.45 with 12 sec combo... HELP

How old are the tires. When slicks get old the sidewalls breakdown and affect the handling. I would look for a set of drag radials. Do NOT put the biggest tire you can fit on your car. Bigger tires add more rotational weight and more drag. The result will be you will go even slower. On...

    Looking for more

If you are serious about weight, don't relocate the battery to the trunk. All that big copper cable isn't light. Buy a small gel cell battery (13lbs) and make a lightweight tray and hold down out of aluminum. Keep it under the hood and cable lengths short. With the small gear reduction...

Advice for beginner wanting get into drag racing?

    1) BEFORE you roll into the burnout area, make sure your windows are rolled up. That way you don't forget. 2) If it is your first time staging the car, let the car in the other lane pre-stage first. That way you can line up your car based on the car in the other lane. Go slow and once the...

    MPH vs ET

ET with a low MPH is usually a sign of converter slippage. Going to a smaller/better/$$$ converter usually solves the problem.

    My trip to the track...

In the link on SS springs they mention using a 68 Imperial shock on the back. Do you think there is any difference between the 68 and the 70-71 shocks? I am having better luck finding wheels with either 5.125" backspace or 5.50" backspace. The 5.50" backspace wheel would require a .250" thick...

    My trip to the track...

I just have to look on the far side of my garage to find a pair of MT ET Drag Radials 255R-15. They just happen to be on a set of wheels that won't fit on the Dart and they are currently keeping this "other" car a roller. Even still I have been scoping Craigslist to see if someone was dumping...

    My trip to the track...

Not my first foray into the 12s, just my first with a MOPAR. It is sad to think my '73 340 'Cuda and my 70 Challenger RT 383 never made it this far. They always got sold to support some family milestone before they reached this level. The last MOPAR I had was a 76 Aspen RT with a 360. That...

The 8 3/4 is supported by MP 002/003 springs in the stock locations. The front has /6 torsion bars with worn out stock shocks and after market (adjustable) strut rods. Front tires are a 195R-15 on a 7" rim and the rear is a 255R-17 Riken Raptors on an 8" rim. Because I run low hanging...

    My trip to the track...

Right off the bat, I have to say..I am having fun! Last time at the track we played with the timing and managed to whittle a 13.50 down to a 13.23 @ 102.58. Over the last few weeks I have made some changes to the car. The first change was to the lightest secondary spring Holley makes which is...

who has the fastest 318 ?!!!

I have done the Furd 302 thing and with off the shelf aluminum heads and a ported factory Cobra (FI) intake, AOD, 4.10 and ran a best of 11.75 @ 113 MPH. The 360 in my Dart is not exactly fresh, but it would be interesting to see if I could replicate those results with a 318. I would look for...

Need some help dipping into the 11's

If you are having your ETs change from round to round and you are having 60ft times ranging from 1.67 to 1.75 then you have a traction issue. I agree with a 112 MPH trap speed being more then enough to produce a 11.99 time slip. You are going to have to get the 60 foot down to mid-high 1.5x to...

    lightening car

Moving the battery to the trunk doesn't save any weight, especially if you keep the alternator. If you plan to keep the alternator, get a small battery and keep it in the stock location. On my street/strip car I use an Odyssey PC6800 to start the car and it only weighs 13 lbs.

    My trip to the track...

I will have to check and see how much mechanical I can add back in. Since the starter is the small gear reduction unit, it doesn't seem to strain too much at 20 degrees initial timing. I have not changed the jetting. I have my weather meter in my helmet bag and forgot to pull it out and take...
