I checked our stock solid lifter slant springs just to see what they had @1.600 they barely made 50. That was a 71 engine with 90,000 miles on it. It's no wonder you cant over rev them Lol. I ended up with 75lbs seat @ 1.615-1.620. Theese were standard 318 springs.

I am in need of a nipple for the oil filter/oil pump. The 225 is a 71 not sure if they had the stand pipe or not. Any help is appreciated Thanks Joe

Ok this may be a dumb question but what keeps the slant camshaft from walking back and fourth? This is the first slant build for me, I got it in a basket not sure if I'm missing something here. Don't see no holes in the block for a retainer plate and nothing inside the timing cover. Thanks

Anyone have a second .060 ring for a 225 slant six? I broke one of ours trying to get it off after fighting the oil scrapper rings. The pistons are sealed power with a 5/64 ring. Hate to buy a set and waste the rest of them, if some one has a spare. Thanks

The head has had nothing done to it. At this point I'm just going to try to mill the head as far as I can and be able to use stock pushrods.

Well I think the 9-1 is out of the question. I should have done my home work first. Had the block decked .040 and with the sealed power piston it is now .155 in the hole. How for can i mill the head before pushrod issues? (stock length) Rusty you nailed it, they cant have much compression...

Bore is .060. The block is bored, honed and decked .040. The pistons are .018 shorter than the original's. So I tried to make up the difference and then some by decking the block. It had a decent std bore but the guy I bought everything from bought .060 pistons, wich looks not to be a problem in...

Yeah we are milling the head I was going to mill it .080 should easily hit 9-1 with the .021 head gasket. Will post some pics when I get it back. Going after it monday.

Yeah he's balancing the asembly. Got the rods resized just thought it was odd to have 5 of the 6 rods stamped #5.

The machine shop called today and said 5 of the six rods out of our slant were stamped #5's. I never checked them so new no different. Is this normal? He said their was as much as 35 grams differance in the rods. That sounds like quite a bit to me. My first slant six build, usualy chrysler...

Thats where it hit me! The crankshaft in a 71 225 is a very nice piece! I know its not apples/apples to what he was running, but still yet, a very good design.
