Stock suspension?

I had a pair of 15 x 9 that I bought cheap in the late '80s. Spent an afternoon with a wire brush and putty knife removing the flaking chrome from the center. Then I scuffed em and spray painted flat black. I thought they looked pretty cool on the back of my jacked up '66 Malibu lol.

The vintage S/S was a more rounded spoke - the modern remakes are a flatter spoke. This one's (extremely) vintage.

The quicker 10.5 racers use a 12 inch rim, some even find success with a 13 or 14. This is extreme hp and double bead locks, so I'm sure this doesn't quite apply to a typical street and strip car..but it does demonstrate one thing if you want to maximize hook on a certain tire - go a little...

I'd move up to a 12 inch rim with 12 inch slick, I think with a 10 you'd only be utilizing the center of the footprint.

If you're narrowing the rear you can keep your wheels He has a Dart Hardtop, which doesn't have the flared out quarter panels like a Duster/Demon body style. Would probably stick out an inch or two on his car.

Even the '65-'67 will be rubbing the lips with a 15 x 8 with 4" bs.

That will definitely help with the search. You might even find a pair of 4"...and if you do, NEVER sell them. I had a set on this car, sold it. Contacted the guy a few months later to try to get the wheels back and he traded them already.

Wow so apparently they've cancelled the 4.5 as well. I couldn't find them either.

15 x 4 is the narrowest Cragar made the S/S. Can't get them anymore, now the narrowest is 15 x 4.5. Not sure if it was ever made in 5 x 4 bp.

If they're not Halibrands or JD, they could be Rocket Injectors.

Did you squeeze a B-body rear in it?

Cragar Super Lites, basically Weld Drag Lites. They're dual pattern, not unilug (which is an oval hole)

Check with local dirt modified racers, you can usually get used tires with some life left that are cheap. They actually hook on the street pretty well unless you have a seriously fast car.

Easily the 275/60s like you're wanting, probably up to a 315. But I think you can fit the 275/60s with just a spring offset and picking the perfect rim size and offset. There has to be someone here with a Dart or Scamp that's done this tire size without a mini tub.

Might need to do a spring offset, that wheel opening is tight.

I've done it with a soft brush and diluted acid etch cleaner, either turn it by hand with an old axle or use a machine like pishta said ^^

No it was typical rust, very repairable. The guy that bought it was notorious for destroying cars...I really shouldn't have sold it to him. But hindsight is 20/20 and all that.

It's dead unfortunately. Sold it in '95 to a guy who put the engine in his Challenger, and the rest got parted out. Last I heard the empty shell is somewhere in the sandhills of NE.

This car had 15 x 7 Auto Drags with the 3 5/16 backspace and 28 x 9 MT slicks. They hugged the lip of the quarter a little too close and didn't let me drop it down much. I had a choice of the 3 5/16 bs and 4 7/8...in hindsight I should have done the 4 7/8 and clearanced the inner wheel tub or...

Also 7/16" studs. If you run it hard with sticky tires, at least replace them with aftermarket like ARP.

Get another pair of rallye wheels, put some 14" drag radials on them. With 14" wheels you're limiting yourself because most are 15"...but M&H makes a set that would fit: M&H Racemaster Muscle Car Drag Tires MSS-002

If this won't be a cornering machine, I'd order the fronts in the 15x4. A bodies have a wider track in front and some wheel/tire combos look awkward because of it. Just my .02
