    MRL roller lifters

I was about to get some myself, then I jumped ship and went Gen III Hemi. I know it wont be long and Mike will start playing with those too.

arrow casts the Gen III aluminum block.

    machine work questions.

Also keep in mind that with the bigger the overbore, the more critical cylinder distortion can get.

    Childs & Albert piston rings

Just run the same gap on the second as the top.

    fresh 383 oil type

Im a big fan of Mobil 1 15w50 after break in. I will probably break in my 6.1 Hemi with Rotella diesel oil, probably 5w40.

    MRL Mild 440

Mike are you about ready to play with the Gen III Hemi's yet? I have a 6.1 head you can play with.

    Finally!

That should be a handful! Looks and sounds real good.

    512 build

What lifters did Joe use? The good Morels? Im betting there is some left with the right lifters.

    oil pan hitting

Dont shim the K member down, that does nothing to help steering/oil pan clearance. Shim under the engine mount biscuits and this will fix all of it.

What is your favorite performance muffler?

Borlas are my favorite for all out drag race/street terror in 3.5" and larger diameters. Those things at 8K rpm are music. My Dart is getting Spintech's next go around. Magnaflow's have a bong water sounding burble I hate.

'Pop's Engine' another 440 on the dyno.

Hey I thought that cam was already in it with solid lifters?

    Big Block Torsion Bar Selection

I'll take the 1.14's if you decide to unload them.

Stopping the knock: Lower compression and ported heads...

I think the Eddy chambers just suck.

'Pop's Engine' another 440 on the dyno.

I think im right in between you guys, so I can be the half way point if you guys want to have a meet lol! There is a dyno, Marlin Bogner, 96 miles east of me too lol!

    Molnar

I plan to use his Gen III stuff in my junker.

    "451 Manifesto"

There is a version of 470 that uses a 6.70" rod but not 6.76" IIRC.

    Indy Head information

Look like SR's because of pushrod pinch.

Stopping the knock: Lower compression and ported heads...

Just a comment, but didnt he say octane didnt matter?

Stopping the knock: Lower compression and ported heads...

So no air/oil separator between pcv and carb I take it. Could always plug it and see I guess.

Stopping the knock: Lower compression and ported heads...

Frank what is your PCV setup? Valve cover baffles? Sucking in any oil or even vapors with make is ping like a ***** too.

Stopping the knock: Lower compression and ported heads...

Those thick head gaskets will ruin good combustion. You're pretty much gonna turn it into a 78 New Yorker dud.

Anyone here ever have their pistons machined?

The quench would probably make all the difference. I still never understood why Edelbrock would go to all the trouble of making a head using the most un-efficient chamber ever in a Mopar? Why? So guys like Frank here could use them and still have detonation I guess...

Anyone here ever have their pistons machined?

Frank, have you considered just having a set of 75cc Eddy heads done with the valvetrain in your existing heads?
  24. 72BBSwinger

Anyone here ever have their pistons machined?

Elevation effects detonation. Lower altitude makes it worse. I would go colder on the plugs. No matter what you read, if you don't try it, it doesn't matter.

    head gasket

If one is bad what makes you think the other is safe if they were probably made on the same day with possibly the same defect?
  26. 72BBSwinger

Anyone here ever have their pistons machined?

Pretty sure 5 gallons of 110 per tank would cure it. The people making our gas these days are f-ing us 6 ways from Sunday Frank. The 91 of today ACTS like the 87 of yesterday in my last engine. I ran my engine for 19 yrs and the 91 octane in 1998 was head and shoulders better than what they call...

Anyone here ever have their pistons machined?

I think he asks questions, then waits until he finds an answer that agrees with the one he already is thinking of.....
  28. 72BBSwinger

Anyone here ever have their pistons machined?

Yep, that is another question, how much meat is under them? The type of milling you want to try for IMO is basically connecting the valve reliefs and making one continuous wedge and leaving the rest of the piston alone to retain your quench. Cant find a pic but they are out there. I think some...
