    Hindsight is 20/20

Most likely what my5thmopar said (but check the sensor hardware also for a leak as mentioned above). When I installed my new tank, I used the old clip ring with the new gasket and made extra sure that it was installed straight and centered, and I have no leak with the tank sitting full. There is...

    dumb question: sender gasket

If you had the metal for the sending unit against the metal of the gas tank with no gasket between it, logically it would not seal, so mechanically speaking, that doesn't make sense. Still, definitely better to find out the right answer than to guess and have gas all over!

Fuel filler neck grommet won't seal?

Are these the ones bought from a member here? I should be getting mine in a day or 2, will check right away to see if it fits the new tank. If so, maybe get one from him.

    1971 fuel tank vent system....

?? My '72 does not have the tank or extra tube in the trunk as shown in the first post. I don't recall seeing a '72 with it. Do some have it and some don't, or what? Mine is even an early-built '72 model, so if '72's had it, I would expect that mine would. It's not been changed out.

    1971 fuel tank vent system....

'70 CA cars (at least some of them) have this. '72 48-state do not, not sure about '72 CA.

Gas Tank and Sending Unit Recommendations

That was my concern too... maybe I'll just leave it as is until I put the 8 in, we'll see. Wasn't sure if it would cause any other problem. Thanks for the reply.

Gas Tank and Sending Unit Recommendations

Of course it won't make a difference. That's not what I meant. I meant CAN I install the 3/8" sender now...... then install the 3/8" tubing later when I upgrade the engine... instead of having to install a stock sender now, then replace it with a 3/8" sender later. Does my question make more...

Gas Tank and Sending Unit Recommendations

So, if you don't mind me tagging on the coattails of this thread... If I get a 3/8" sender, do I need to replace the fuel line with 3/8", or can I keep the stock one for now (then replace with 3/8" when I upgrade the engine)? I always assumed I had to replace both at once.
