Mike, the 1" spacer will just move the power band down a hair. Spacers make a big difference. I ran a 1" 4 hole non tappered on the chasis dyno and then put on my 1" HVH tappered spacer and picked up 20 rwhp. The 2" is to much fo your combo. Get a 1" tappered HVH. Trust me!

Price wise you can beat an edelbrock. I have had great luck with them in the past. I would go 600 cfm mech sec. Demons and holley's are good too, but if you want simple and reliable go edelbrock. JMO

Mike, the more I read about your trouble the more I gotta say it's in the ignition somewhere. I had the same problem with the orange box once. Borrow a different ign to try, or check all your connections on your current one.

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge in the car? If not and you don't want the expense just pull the hood and rig a cheap one up so you can see it and run it through the gears.

I had a very similiar set up! I ran 11.80's with 76 and 80's in high 60 degree temps. 33 squirter's and timing at 40 total. Jet up equal front and back until your mph drops off and then back the front down 2 sizes. Then play with timing to get best ET. Then re je-jet!
